| There are plenty of people in my area that would participate. I know a few dozen chapters could be started rather quick.
Local evening or weekend Tourneys
Inexpensive
Chance to go to a national Championship
Sponsor assistance
What do you think, Will it work?
Good Luck

| That is an idea that has been discussed before... I know that Julia Davis was very enthusiastic... Someone should start lobbying the FLW |

I’ll try to help you out by explaining my limited knowledge. Tyee has done more research on this than me.
Basically, Federations are organizations run and operated by fishermen for fishermen. In the bass world, you have the TBF (The Bass Federation). They have independent state bass federations who work together to support the grassroots growth of fishing and the growth of the entire sport fishing / outdoors industry in their states. They run their own tournaments for their members.
They have local tournaments and winners making some cash. They then go onto the next level which I believe is the Zone Tournaments. Zone Tournaments are the second step in the progression of competitions leading to the National Events. The top 30% of competitors from each of these tournaments will go on to compete in the Bass State Federation State Finals Tournament. The State Tournament is the third step in the progression of competitions leading to the National Events. The top 12 competitors from this two day event will go on to compete against other states in the National Federation Northern Divisional Tournament. Two of the twelve will then go on to compete in the Federation National Tournament against two anglers from each state and province.
They then advance (I think) to the FLW and/or BASS Classic. But I’m unsure how this happens.
From what I observe, their tournaments are cheaper than ours with less payouts. They are more of a club tournament format and are considered proving grounds for people who would like to go on. Others stay at this level for the fun and camaraderie.
They set up local chapters, have fund raisers, youth events, jamborees but primarily fish the tournaments. There are several of these bass tournaments on the Winnebago system each year.
Hope this all makes sense and is factual. This is as much as I know.
