Last year I met a fine young man Jacob Yarolim who was crazy about learning walleye fishing. He has helped me with MWA since September and has been eager to learn everything he can about walleyes.

Jacob is 26 and like a lot of us at that age. Eager to make jigs, try different rods, different lines. He turned into a little walleye monster. Jake is married and a father of two adorable little tikes.

Monday Jacob was taken to Maquoketa Hospital and diagnosed with a brain tumor. They took him over to Iowa city and will operate Monday morning.

I would like to ask his fellow fisherman to say a prayer for Jacob for a safe return home and a speedy recovery. There are a lot of fish to go into his net yet.

I would like to show him this post before he goes in. Please post some words of encouragement and hope.

Sincerely,

Jacob,
Be well and heal fast, sir. The fish will wait, but fishing is GREAT medicine. Get back out there as soon as the Docs will let you.

Jacob.

Most successful anglers will tell you that its their positive thinking, attitudes and strategies that gives them the edge they need to succeed. As a guide and charter captain all these years, I can attest to this "Mind over matter" thinking often helping me stay on task and turn a bad day into a good one. I've also privately asked, received and thanked the main man upstairs many times after a successful trip outdoors. Not that he directly had anything to do with it or my success, but for his generosity for creating it and allowing me to be alive and enjoying it. I don't think he picks winners, showers them with special graces or has any favorites in this race we all call humanity. But I do believe he spiritually and mentally helps us when we or others ask for it during times of great need. I'm asking him (on your behalf) to allow you to continue your unfinished work with your family and allow you to catch your fair share of walleyes. Good luck.

Heard from his dad and this is what he said:

Hey everyone, just a quick note to let y'all know that Fisher is in the ICU and is doing very well. He went into surgury at 12:45 and was done around 7pm. Have not had a chance to talk to the doctor yet but the nurse said everything went great. We will know more about the tumor in a few days, they have to run all their test to see if it good or bad. (don't know how to spell all their big words) He even smiled when I told him the fish were biting. Well enough for now I think we are going to try to get some sleep, I will give y'all an update tomarrow. Thank you to everyone you will never be forgotten.

Thanks All, WALLEYES_ONLY
