Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | I was indeed impressed this afternoon watching 2/3 or more of the field of 47 entries as they came to the scales at the FLW legue event today in Bay City. Even though there were few monsters, I'd say at least that many entries had their 5 walleye tournament limit. And even though many, many were in that "Just keeper" size frame, everybody seemed to say they caught a lot more fish then they needed on top of the ones they kept. Harnesses and meat took most of the fish with spoons being mentioned a few times. This spells great things to come in my mind. Anyway, Gregory Stola from Fenton and his ameture partner took first place with a weight of 16.9 pounds in some rough conditions. Good work guys. Heres some pictures. Check out #2, its our own Tom22 (I Think).
I also liked very much the new "Water weigh-in" procedure they had at this event. The walleyes stayed calm and healthy (at least to the naked eye) as they made their way down the line into the final weigh-in tank on stage.
