Ok, since it's been a while and I got pulled off the lake early with great news on a incident on the water last year all I can offer is that I was also in the "middle" of the lake this past week.

The new Humminbird 3D was awesome in locating this school as everything on the north end was scattered. Nothing but sheeps in the top half of the column along with a few 9"er's. Dropped everything back to 100-120 to get to 13' range and found lots of large fish. Nitro's, T-sticks even a Hot and Tot as well as the new Ruff guy back 150 put a fish in the boat, My go to Yozuri also caught fish. Natural colors!
Good Luck

I've got a report for Friday and Saturday. Not a verty good one though. Fished eleven hours friday, tried everything and just about everywhere. Ended up with a 14" and a couple of dinks. Caught the 14" in the mud off of Brothertown.
This morning I fished Pete's tournement with about the same results. Trolled the mud from Pipe north and ended up with one 14" again and a few more dinks. From the reports I've heard I figured there would be a lot of people without fish. But it was only 14 boats out of 62 that didn't have any fish.
I heard they were getting bigger ones off of stockbridge but we couldn't hook a fish there yesterday.
Big fish for Pete's was 6.5 lbs I believe and 12 and some change took it.

I picked the boat up from Pamps (everything seems good) and launched around 11:30am at Rainbow Park. I was alone and had no problems launching.

9 bites -- 8 walters -- harvested 3.

I went out approx 3 miles from Oshkosh and pulled harnesses with the wind. It was pretty bumpy out there today. Caught a few dinks then caught a 16" (.9mph, #4 rainbow blade, purple beads, with a slipshot, 30' back -- high in the water column).

Moved a little north and switched to cranks -- Jr Thundersticks. I was marking a bunch of fish deep (19fow). Put 2 on boards approx 110' back. Also ran a chart. perch 140' back straight off the back -- boom 17"er. Caught small fish but had a great time (would have weighed 3). Varied speed but was above 2mph all day.

Purple Skeeter -- thanks for the great reprts.

Got out this morning w/ my brother and nephew for a few hours. We fished about a mile out from Stephen's reef in 19 fow. The nephew had sore arms as he reeled in every fish but two. Harnesses produced only one small eye and lots o' goats. Switched to cranks and put some nice eyes in the boat. Most fish came on gold and perch colored raps and ka-booms 100' back. Were gonna try again tomorrow a.m. weather permitting. Great reports guys! Tyee, it's nice to see you finally vacated the river! Good Fishing

Hey Purple Skeeter, want to jump in my boat monday. I haven't hit winnebago yet this year. I've been fishing Green Bay. But this weekend I went bluegill fishing by Pembine, WI. & did really good. They went from 8" to 11" using leeches & twitching a # 7 blue & silver original Rapalla. It's a blast catching them twitching in 2 to 5 FOW.
Drop me an email if you want to hop in. Pat Cavins [email protected]

Pulled another 2 man limit of large fish today had to work through the 14"'ers though. Only had company a couple of times otherwise pretty lonely out there. Hard to decide if we should have moved or not, 10 hours for 10 nice fish is not what I call a hot bite although action was steady enough to keep us over a couple of points that kept producing, Not at all like the normal June bite. The water is still very clear and big fish seem to be spread out. The river is still good but I needed a change of scenery!
Ran 85-95 back (reels are calibrated now) over 19' water. Larger baits were the best, Shad Raps didn't catch anything over 12". Big waves were also a waste of time maybe we should have quartered with them when the wind picked up.

Good Luck

I pulled mostly cranks off of Stockbridge today for a few hours in the morning. One sheephead was all I caught. I tried in close to shore and out in the mud, same story as the last two days. Marked tons of fish but no takers. The storm probably didn't help the action either.
A few questions for you guys doing well out there lately. Does it seem like the bigger fish are in tighter schools or are you guys just picking one up here and there?
Also what do you guys look for on the sonar? I've been marking fish tight on bottom all the way up to the 8' range and nothing is biting. Lots of small marks (baitfish maybe) and a good amount of large ones too. At times it was so thick I'm suprised I didn't snag any! If anyone has any tips to help me locate some active fish, that would be great.

Only kept four this a.m., couple of small eyes released, only two goats. Fished the same area as yesterday pulling cranks anywhere from 80 - 120 feet back. Marked plenty of fish 13' - 16' down, but just couldn't get them to go. Biggest fish of the morning was a fat 19" sauger. (released)

Went out from 12:00-4:00 yesterday. Trolled cranks by Stockbridge with only one 17 to show for my effort. Then at 3:00 went down to a 6.5 foot hump just north of pipe and got 3 18's and a 15. Picthing jigs with a cralwer and slips with leechs. Plus a few Small mouth the action was pretty consistant seeing as I was only there for an hour. I have to agree with skeeter, it has been a very frustrating year this year. But the fish are really fat this year, They must be eating good.

This year has been easy for me with the most fish caught ever. Basically the reefs have been the ticket for me especially on rougher days. I fish out of Oshkosh and I fish only 3 main reefs and get my limit everytime if I would keep them. I have only used a jig and crawler set up once otherwise it is always trolling #5 shad raps long lining. I make 3 passes on a reef and if no fish I jump to another reef. The rougher the water the better the bite. Last week the wind was blowing the waves right off shore and my close to shore reef was practically a bust. I moved to a deeper off shore reef where it was rougher and got my limit in less than 2 hours with two other people. Granted the fish weren't huge mostly 14-16",but for eaters they are great. When the reef bite dies then I will hit the mud and then it will start to slow down where you have to cover more water and depths to find fish. FLY

Sorry but I don't keep anything under 14". I can catch the dinks but it doesn't pay to keep em, let em grow.
For the rest of you guys, thanks for the tips. I was out last night after work, fished 7:30 till dark. Trolled 3.5 miles out from Stockbridge and couldn't even get a sheephead. I talked to two other guys at the launch, they didn't do much better either.
As usual marked tons of fish again, many nice marks suspended around the 10'-15' range.
Hopefully I'll get out again after work one night this week. I'll report how I do.
