Location: Rhinelander | I have one, a dual sport model. It's rigged with a 200 Mercury Opti Max. I'm running a 21 pitch Tempest, and getting about 59 on the GPS most days. With a Hi 5, I get a little better slow speed behavior, but slow down to about 57. I like the handling so far, and really like the way she tracks with the electric. I haven't been in anything over 3.5' waves in the way of rough water yet, but know from reports it handles well in the big stuff, although it is an 18' model, not a 20. The 2060 definitely does a bit better in REALLY rough seas according to reports, but it should.
Since I got mine they have upgraded the interior finishing including new console trim, carpet trim, and a few other items. I added a seat slide to all 4 seats, makes the boat way more adaptable to 4 folks fishing. Don't need suspension seats because the boat comes with SAS helm seating.
I have a week in Canada coming up, and will report back after that trip. So far, so good! |

| Sworrall,my wife just suggested we upgrade so work all the bugs out of the new hull so our next Tuffy will be as trouble free as the present one. |

| Steve, does the Walk thru windshield have different consoles than the dual windshield? In the pics they look different?
Also could a couple of tackle/plano storage drawers be added in front of the consoles? |

Location: Freedom, WI | I am also looking to upgrade boats. I have a dilemma though. My garage is only 20' deep. Would an 1890 fit in that space? Would I be just as well off with a 1760? I was also wondering where I could possibly find a used one. Right now I am either looking at a Skeeter or a Tuffy, since I really like the 1880 as well. What would you experienced fiberglassers suggest? Thanks for the help! |

| I just got the 2060 DS this year love the ride boat handles big water great and I think it rides much smoother than a lot of other boats out there on the market. If you need a dealer talk to Denny and Fort Fremont he'll hook you up. Think they had an 1890 on the lot rigged with a 200 Merc in a nice blue color last time I was there. |

| Been looking at their web site and noticed that the 2060 is 6" narrower in the beam than the 1890. That confuses me a little since the 2060 is longer, I expected it to be wider.
Can any of you help me out here? Why are they spec'd out this way?

| The 2060 is designed that way to cut through the water the very best it can. With the narrow beam it slices through waves instead of pounding over the top, like most very wide beam boats do. The 1890 with the wider beam runs bigger water OK like most boats in it's class. The longer boats are better for the most part in "Big" water i.e Erie or Sag or GB. The 1890 is a great smaller body of water boat like Winnebago or Mille Lacs. The more hull you have on the surface the more water it has to push out of the way. The 2060 is a very fast hull, but so is the 1890 (for it's class) because of the hull designs. I bet at some point you will see a wider 2060 added to the Tuffy line. |

You are confusing me. Please help me work through this. Are you say that narrower is better? Is this a trend that other manufacturers will follow? You say that the more hull you have on the surface the more water it has to push out of the way. I'm sure that you are not suggetsting that the entire beam width is in the water when we are up on plane. Doesn't it come down to hull design? Isn't there very little of the hull in the water when we are up on plane?
Please help me through this. You sound like you know more about hauls than I do. I did a little checking for comparison shopping on different hauls and my results are below. I thought wider was better but now you have me confused. Your thoughts?
Tuffy 2060 is 20' 6" has a 90" beam
Ranger 620 is 20' 3" with a 96" beam
Lund 2025 is 20' 6" long with a 97" beam.
Triton 215 is 21' 5 " long and has a 94" beam.
Triton 202X is 20' 2 " long and has a 93" beam.
Yar-Craft 2095DC is 20' 1 " long and has a 95" beam. |

| Demand is what drives compaines to designs of boats. Narrow boats are good running boats. However "people" or buyers in this case want wide boats. The more room to work from the better, to alot of folks.
The reason the 2060 and it's narrow beam runs big water so well is you are not up on plane and running wide open. Most of the time in bigger waters you can get up on plane and run the boat in comfort at say 3/4 throttle. All boats are designed to run on the Pad these days. So alot of boats only run well when you are up and running hard. The wider the boat, the faster you have to run it to get more of the hull up and out. Or they pound waves hard. Even the best designed boats can only cut through so much water, before they are pushed up and slam the next wave. So the narrower (properly designed) hulls slice waves better and run on top better with less surface slamming waves.

| One thing I notced on the 1890 the beam is 96" at the top, but the bottom steps in for less hull contact

I did hear however that the new 2060 for 2007 is wider I thought they said that it has a 93" beam I might be mistaken but I was talking with a gentleman at the Fleet Tourney this weekend and he mentioned that as he was looking into the 2060. He was currently running an 1890 an older one and liked it because of the storage. We will have to wait and see when the new boats are unveiled.

| I myself am stepping into an 1890 in spring. Currently I am fishing out of a 2060 that my brother owns. From past experience, you can run about twice the speed in a Tuffy as you could in a Ranger. The first tournament we fished out of the 2060 we had to run from hat island back to Menominee. We gave ourselves about 40 minutes because there were 4 footers. We made it in twenty five. We were running just on plane as we would do in the Ranger and it was rough. We pushed it up to the forties and it was a nice skip home. With the narrower boat does come some set backs. The room when running boards and less stability when trolling. But the backsaving ride in rough water is well worth it. Topping it off we installed some smooth move seat mounts just before Merc Nat, and it is a cadilac on the water at any speed. You can get the smooth moves through TFM Promotions at a good price with shipping included. As for the 1890 I will let you know in spring. |

I normally do not touch these posts at all, but this time I must ask you for your sales pitch on why the Laketamer is so much better then my Smooth Moves seat. mounts? He along with thousands of others is obviously very happy with his mounts the way I read it. It is great that you promote Pat`s product he is a great guy from what I know of him, but if you are going to downgrade mine please explain why so we all know the answers. Good business is good business.
