Was told since the power pro has 10lb diameter, it should be the same as 10lb mono, ala the dive curve. Me thinks its sounds fishy. Think its close? Or maybe off a bit, but not much.

Wow, must be a dumb question. I take it then the answer is yes, the same.

Though I disagree due to the lack of flex or bend.

Hi Mark. I cant answer the question about the 30 lb power pro because I dont use anything that heavy for trolling. But I do know it cuts thru the water better than mono on the 10 and 15lb I use. You would have to do a little comparing to see the difference if any of the 2 lines to be sure. Than you can make adjustments to your lenghts.

Thanks John.

I am convinced I was totally out of the strike zone when trolling with this crappola. Dont like it. tougher than crap though. Better for the big lake.

i think there are many other variables in the correct equation.. Precision trolling give a good estimate. but take into account, speed, and speed of the current and the small difference in line diameter is meaningless.. you aint gonna +5ft or -5ft with 10lb pp compared to 10lb xt. in a game where close counts its better to try different amounts of line out until you find what works..

My experience with the braided lines is that they do not troll the same. Most of the braids are not smooth so they may have the same diameter, but not the same surface area. I have found that Power pro and Spiderwire Stealth with a ten pound diameter get me the same results depth wise as 12 pound XT.

Mark, I dont know why your calling the line crappola. I think your useing way to heavy of line to start with if you going to troll smaller baits. We pull power pro on gin clear lakes and dirty rivers and have not seen a difference . The only thing we do different on clear lakes is use 4' of 17lb vanish for a leader. Also check to see if your cranks are running true. Alittle hook at the side of the boat and at 100' back ,its rolling around in nowhere land plus with the heavier line your useing, its alot worst. Also use a rod with a soft tip it will help get your baits down better. Besides musky size baits there is no reason to have that heavy of line.

Mark is probably pulling planer boards and if he is fishing lakes with Zebra Muscles thats why he might be heavy, at least thats the key on my Lake Winnebago, those Zebras will cut you up!

Lots of good points fellows. I know there is some play with line, especially the braids. And it makes a lotta of good sense to use this stuff with zebra mussels. I was convinced, though, that 10lbXT per precision trolling would get my bait right where I wanted it. Since I was using 30lb braid (not my choice), I, of course, lost all confidence.

So, went back to my area with 10lb XT and a hot and tot. Guess, what? Got some fish.

I pretty new to this trolling game, so I am stickin with 10lb XT.

The only time i use this heavy of a line is when i have to. I have found it very valuable to use heavy line in snaggy situations. when pulling eyes out timber or thick coontail.. Open water trolling for eyes 30lb is way overkill unless your trying to fish for barracuda.

Mark. If it puts fish in the boat, stay with what works for you. Let me know when your bringing your rig down to play. The troll bite is going strong on the IL right now.
