| Just got back from the weigh in. What an exciting finish. Ted brought in big bags all week, and needed just a bit over 14 lbs to win it today. Wayne Butz prought in a great bag of fish, and not all caught trolling, and edged out Ted for the win. Congrats to Wayne, and his Co-Angler, Chad. Chad prefished with us all week, and this was his first FLW Tourney.
As for me, I had a great week, from prefishing to the tourney. I drew Scott Steil on Wednesday, and we did ok. Had a fun, we lost a couple good fish, and took a 1 lb. penalty when two fish went belly up in the tank. Thursday, I fished with Mike Hiser from Ohio. Good guy, and we worked all day in the heat to weigh 18 lbs, and I moved up to 40th place, with in striking distance of the cut!
Friday, I drew Kevin Adams, who got in at the last moment to fill a spot that was open. We started the day with nets flying all around us. We caught several 19 inch fish, and then I made decision to use a damaged harness. The snell on the back hook looked good, so I put it back out. With a 9 lber in the box, that harness had a big fish on, and the snell loosened, and at least a 10lber came off just as I went to net it! I was angry with myself, as I knew from muskie fishing that a big fish will find your weak link, and get off. This fish did, and it changed the rest of the day. Intead of sitting with 19 lbs and two fish, I had only a 9. A couple 3 lbers that we threw back would not only have made me a check, but potentialy put me in sight of the cut! Big mistake, and I will never make that one again! Some day, I will make that up to Kevin.
Congrats to Tom Keenan on Angler Of The Year. What a year he had. Weighed a limit every day, in every tourney, until today. Two top tens, and an 11th, and a 33rd place finish in the money at Red Wing. Awesome year for an awesome angler.
Congrats also to our own Jerry Ruffolo, and Gordy Powers, who both made the Championship on Lake Oahe. Good luck, guys!

| Thanks for the report Shep. It was great to finally get to meet you! I'm happy to have made the Championship, but I'm still stingin' from the choke job I had at Green Bay. I learned alot more about the "game" this event.
Hope to see again soon. | |

| Shep, it was nice seeing a familiar face up there, though I didn't notice you without a muskie rod in your hand.
It really was exciting, suspenseful and every thing a hard fought tourney should be. I thought Ted was pretty gracious when he admitted that the 4 dead fish on Wednesday came back and bit him in the behind. I'm not sure that I could smile and talk about it while looking at a scale that determined my fate.
I sure picked a good tourney to cut my teeth on, and I'm sure that it won't be my last.

Sounds like a good time, sir. I agree with the congratulations! It's going to be fun covering that event.
The Goon was good, but the weather insane.
