| Starting with a 19ft boat. What would be the ultimate kicker motor set up with todays technology?Your opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

| It would have to be either a 15 or 9.9 hp Mercury Four Stroke. There are a number bof other brands available, but no one has the kind of service available that Mercury does. |

| I would say get anything but mercury. I'd go with a 9.9 Johnson with a panther lift and electro-steer, in my opinion that is the perfect setup. |

| I'd go with a 9.9 4 Stroke. Buy the brand you like, and have confidence in. They all make good motors these days. And then either a BracketPro, or a Panther lift. Steering go with Goldeneye rod, Panther Electro-Steer, or TR-1 Autopilot. Throttle control, use Troll-king if you don't buyt the TR-1.
If you get the T-8, you won't need the BracketPro or PantherLift, but you will spend $1000 more for it, last I saw. |

Location: Rhinelander | The Minn Kota or Panther lifts coupled with a 9.9 or 15 horsepower Mercury 4 Stroke are my choices. I also agree with Shep. All the builders make a great outboard, go with the one you are most comfortable with. All brands have motors that perform flawlessly for years, and others that need repair occasionally. That is what a warranty is for, and most of the dealers are very careful to meet the customer's expectations. |

Location: La Crescent, MN | Ditto on the Panther Lift, I run a 9.9 Merc Bigfoot because it comes with a tiller handle plus electric start, and I normally run a link rod to the main motor, but will go to the electrosteer this year.
I think that is the ultimate setup. Electric lift on the motor, electric remote steering, and electric start. No worries and dependable.

| This may be a stupid question, but what is a Panther Lift???

| Eyelunker, Mercury does make a 9.9 with t&t, the problem is its not very heavy duty, and its not made to take the abuse a kicker motor takes. Things will start to break and eventually the kicker motor itself will break off if no other support is there.
Big Grass, A panther lift is an after market accessory, it is basically a heavy duty tilt and trim bracket for your kicker motor. Just the panther lift itself moves, the motor is always in the down position, but when you tilt the lift up, the motor comes up and out of the water. Sorry for the crappy defintion, its the best I could do. |

Location: Rhinelander | I just found out that the folks who build the Slidemaster Setback plate(best in the biz) also make a static plate for kickers as well. This is a bracket that will fit any boat and get the motor a bit higher and more accessible, or for boats with no kicker transom area.It will retail for less that $125. |

| I would get the Minn Kota Salt water series 107 lb thrust bow mount auto-pilot electric trolling motor. Most of my trolling needs can be taken care of with the more responsive bow mount and with the prices of gas it would cost way less over time. The auto pilot allows you to move the foot control anywhere in the boat you need to. Drift socks will take care of the rest. Thanks, Dan Palmer NPAA#345

| Yes...EyeLunker... I was thinking the same.
Yamaha and Merc both have "kicker specific" models with higher thrust and integral power tilt in both remote and tiller versions.

Location: Westland, MI. | Take a good look at either a Yamaha T-8 or new Merc. 9.9 pro kicker. Get a tiller handle electric, if you have room mount on the port side of the boat next to your main motor. If you don't have room, go to the panther lift bracket (X-35) and then add a TR-1 Auto-Pilot for control and throttle. That is the ULTIMATE set-up. Have a great day guys & gals!

| If you are looking at a Merc, look at the new Pro Kicker. This motor was designed for tournament fishing. Add the TR-1 and you have an excellent autopilot with remote wireless control of the steering and the throttle. |
