Location: Manitowoc, WI | Although the bite isn't as hot as it was during the FLW Tour practice period, there still exists a good bite out on the Bay. Many fish in the 15-20" range and a few in the upper 20" range. Spinners are taking most of these fish, as some are in the upper water column and some are deep. Experiment until you find a pattern. Good luck. |

Location: Neenah, WI | one fish on blue/silver holo. blade, the other on a hammered copper blade. both had some chart. combo beads. Like I said, tons of fish were marked, but w/ the storms the few previous nights, the bite was off, compared to past outings. I will be fishing the FLW league event this weekend, and will report after. Good Luck! |

Location: Neenah, WI | Caught plenty of fish in the super tourney, just not the big ones. About half of the boats headed north towards Cedar River and the other half went south off of Geanos.(including me and my partner) Fish were caught shallow, but the majority of the boats were working 20'- 25' of water. Hammered gold blades out-produced the others for us. Good luck to anyone headed out this week! |

Location: Chilton, WI | I was out by myself on Sat. the 29'th and found some big fish. I couldn't find them till later in the morning. Started in 22'-23' and couldn't do much. I moved to 18'and got a ton of sheepheads and smaller ones. Got sick of the sheepheads sinking my boards every ten minutes so I headed back out to deeper water in a different area. Action was slow for a while untill I picked up a 28" Then ten minutes later I landed a 27.5. Trolled for another ten minutes without a fish so I reeled up and made another pass over the two waypoints. Right as I crossed the first waypoint I landed another decent fish. I made 3 passes in all and had nice fish on every pass. After the third pass the wind died and the heat got the best of me so I called it a day. 5 nice ones within an hour and 40 minutes. Just for the hell of it I weighed them before I let them go. The 5 fish would have come to 34 lbs and some change.
Best outing so far this year. |

Location: Chilton, WI | Thanks Bud! Me and my fishing partner would love to fish the Battle on the bay but it would be a gamble with our boat. Its only a 16.5' boat so I have to pick my days when I fish up there. If its anymore than a 10 mph wind from the north, north/east, things get a little hairy. Kinda limited to how far I can go on days like that. Once I'm done with my schooling I'll be able to afford a bigger boat. Till then I'll probably be a fair weather fisherman up there.
TnT: the fish are still up by Ganos. The nice ones that I caught were not mixed in with smaller ones and they were in a tight school. I caught them all within a quarter mile stretch in 3 passes. I think it would be hard to follow a school like that even from one day to the next. So my best advice would be to just start trolling till you pick up a nice one. Mark a way point then give it another 15 to 20 minutes. If you don't pick up another in that time, reel up and go over that waypoint again with the exact same set-up. Thats gonna be my game plan if I can get out Friday morning. Good luck! |

Location: Green Bay, WI. | I have caught a few on Purple Prism Deep Jr. T-Sticks 60 feet back on Vincent point. Which is in between Volks and Frying Pan Shoal on the East Shore.
Been fishing 9-11 FOW. Most fish in lower to mid 20"s and about every 6th fish being in the upper 20"s. Not to many sheephead either.
Good Luck, Pat Cavins |

Location: Green Bay, WI. | Just under 32" that I got in the net & a quick pic, then released.
I also lost one at the back of the boat that hit a perch that hit my harness, that one had to be 15LB's. I'm still whining about that one, I sure wanted a pic of her. |

| Ventured out yesterday morning (The 2nd) while dodging rain storms in the AM, fishing was outstanding one of our better days this year. Possible bag limit weight with 5 fish of around 34-37 pounds. Little fish were common we had to release about 40 fish between 18 and 23 to get the big girls but it was worth it. No boats anywhere to found. If I wasnt getting married on the 5th I would for sure be fishing on the 6th. Stupid Wedding! |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | With out sounding, well like a dink, here goes, Chris, did you keep 34 to 37 lbs of fish to eat? It would make more sense to me to eat the smaller fish and catch the bigger ones again another day. I know its legal but.... I remember other fisheries that could not take that kind of pressure for long. Lets police our own actions. Lets make sure this wonderful new found fishery does not collapse. Maybe I just read your post wrong, and if I did, I am sorry.

| I'm thinking he estimated the weight of his largest 5, or maybe actually weighed them before releasing them.
Spots didn't work out to well for you, Denny? Sorry 'bout that. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | TnT, we were out Thursday morning from 6:30 to 10:30 and got a 22", 28" and 28 1/2". You have to move around and try to locate them. When you do find fish, go over them more than once changing colors/baits. You can see the pics of the two bigger ones under the general discussion board on the Battle on the Bay topic. Good Luck! |

One thing I noticed when I was there for the FLW League tourney was that I caught more fish 14' and higher. I actually caught more eater fish in the upper 5'. Try running some harnesses on the outside boards with big blades size 5 & up without any weight. Just remember to let back 50+ feet of line and run about 1mph.
Then like Horshak said, keep moving till you find them. Really strain the water, run the outside harnesses high, the inside boards at about 8-12' and the last rods near the bottom. Find the depth that they like and then you can start switching all your rods to those depths. |

|
| we found it hear to troll with all the weeds in the water, we were none stop checking rods. we ran 2 oz snap weights and inlines right off the bottom ran 1oz 20-30 and #5 slpit shots 35 feet back. we were using up 2 #6 colorado hammered copper and gold as well as multiple other blades we also tried cranks marked lots of fish but could not get bite. we did get lik8 or 9 cats so idk what that means. maybe too deep.... maybe it just wasnt my day.... |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Well folks, as I promised, here is my report for the last week. Pre-fished last Thursday and Saturday East of Geano's reef in 20 to 22 FOW pulling harnesses. Color didn't seem to matter as long as purple was involved and large crawlers. We caught several over 20 inches, a couple around 25 inches and the previously posted 28 and 28 1/2 inchers with a bonus 29 incher on Saturday. However, Yesterday we managed only 2 fish with one being around 26 inches. They were there but we just couldn't get them to go. That's why they call it fishing instead of catching. Congrats to Jason and Brad for the winning basket. Sometimes that's the way it goes. I am feeling pretty good about where I stand in the 1st year of tournament fishing. I look forward to my last two events this year with the MWS and am also looking forward to the 2007 season. I've met some great people along the way and have received some good advice from a lot of good sticks. I have more confidence in my ability to catch fish and handle the Tuffy in the bigger stuff. And am thankful to all those who gave me pointers. Good luck to all in the rest of the season and the championships you are fishing. Hope to see you all next year. |
