Subject: Mark Courts Takes the Win at the PWT Regional at Mobridge

Location: Rhinelander

The PWT Mobridge Regional final day weigh in was a hot one, with temps in the lot at 113 to 117 degrees. Despite the heat, the crowd was excellent, and the competition as hot as the blacktop.

John Zirzow came in early with a 9 plus and a big basket to hold the lead at 35.56 until the day two leaders began weighing in. Ron Gasvoda held the lead briefly, then Chad Schilling, and it was time for the shootout between Mark Courts and Scott Ziegler. Mark weighed first, and took the lead from Mr. Schilling by more than 5 pounds. The only question left was:

Did Scott Zeigler have enough to hold on to the win? He needed a bit over 10 to retain the lead for the win, but when Ty, the PWT Weighmaster hit the button and weighed the basket, only 9.95 pounds showed on the display. Mark went about ballistic with excitement and emotion, choking up some when he tried to thank his family and sponsors for the support necessary to allow a Pro to travel as much as is necessary.

This was an interesting event, testing the decision making process, endurance, and patience of every Pro and Co fishing. LOTS of fish were caught, and so much depended on the decision as to which to keep and which to pitch, the order in which the fish were caught, how far to run, whether to fish the trees or rely on the points and current, and all of that and much more in almost oven like heat.

Congratulations to all the Pros, and to Mark Courts for the win!
