Just finished figuring, filling out and sending my July Charter Boat catch report for the DNR. The Charlevoix Fisheries research Station will tabulate this info, along with all the other charter boat catches in the state, and use it for a number of things concerning future fisheries management, practices, plantings and policies.

My total Saginaw Bay catch rate for July was 13.1 walleyes per trip, kept. They only want to know the species and how many fish you kept versus caught. Virtually all my trips in July were 1/2 day trips. This compares well to my last great year 2001, as most then were whole day trips. And this may well be the best July charter catch rate I experienced since that summer of 2001, but probably more fish this year actually, because back then I wasn't throwing back as many or more than I was keeping in the course of the day. All this bodes well for the future our fishery. Heres hoping all the Saginaw Bay dominos stay standing in their ecological row. :D
