Sorry for the redundency, but cant seem to conceptually grasp this.

On winnebago yesterday, good wind, good waves. Trollin harnesses down wind. Was going too fast, so no fish. If I am using the kicker at idle (T8) to basically steer, where am puttin the drift back? Considering my lines out back, and my motor running, that drift back gots the makins of disaster.

Or in this case, do I troll in the wind with harnesses takin advantage of the boat as true drag?

I use (2) 30 inchers. One off each forward cleat. Hope this helps.

I rigged my boat up with the 2 bags and used it for the first time yesterday. All I can say is excellent. Worked perfect. Really helped my fishing tell ya that. Skeeter

Skeeter,

Glad to see that you finally got your bags all set up. It is an incredible system. Once you try it, you will want to put the bags in every day, wind or not. It amazes me that more folks don't use this system.

Best of luck for the rest of the season.

I agree with the two bags from a forward or midship cleat system. I have a pair of 22" bags from Amish Outfitters that are made specifically for forward trolling. They are made from canvas and are very durable. Works great for trolling downwind and also slows boat surge quite a bit when you are trolling in big waves.

On the Twin Bag Trolling System, the web page has been changed to:

http://lindylittlejoe.com/fishing_tips/drift_control_tips/trolling_...

When Lindy acquired Wave Tamer, the Tamer site was transferred to the Lindy website.

The Twin Bag Trolling System is without a doubt the neatest and most useable system for trolling that I have ever experienced. Jim Carrol and Johnny Candle have pioneered this system and I have to agree that this is the best way to utilized 2 drift socks.

This system works much better than putting 2 socks on your mid ship cleats or draggin one bag behind the boat. Under the boat, 2 socks perform like "driving a stake right down the middle of your boat". The boat will turn almost instantaneously, thus allowing you to troll downwind, sideways, and against the wind with little effort. For all boats and most importantly, for boats with high sides, the Twin Bag Trolling System drops the bow down approx. 2 inches and makes it much easier to control. Two 30 inch bags will slow most boats down by 40%. Two 40 inch bags slow most boats down by 50%.

The nice feature of the Wave Tamers (they have a patented spring opening) are that they open up the first time and every time. When you cannot see the bags, that is an important feature.

I just got done building this setup for my rig...But I was wondering, does anything happen to the bags that maybe shouldnt happen if you back your boat up to let say get a lure back from the bottom of the lake? I fish a very snaggy lake and just curious if the bags simply turn around under the boat, or if they cause havoc?

Any help?

I have done just that a time or two and have seen no ill effects on the bags.

No, ill effects when I have had to make a sudden reverse thrust of the motor to retreive lures from a snag the last few years and I seem to be doing this more often then I'd like to. With this system You and Jim have prefected a system that makes for precise structure trolling almost effortless.
Thank You Both.

Plan on rigging up this system, whats the best way to retrieve it? The website was a bit murky on this. Thanks - Bob Carmichael

Bob,

Just place the boat in nuetral, un-hook the rope from one side, walk it around the bow of the boat and lift the bags in.

The 30 inch bags do not hold enough water to be real heavy.

The system is awesome, it works very well.
