| NEW SCHEDULE FORMAT FOR 2007!
The Walleye Anglers Trail will go to a one day tournament format for 2007. The tournament day will be on Sunday. This change is being implemented in an effort to draw interest in the circuit by providing present and potential WAT members the ability to fish the circuit without causing undue hardship with their employment and family responsibilities.
The mandatory rules meeting is still in effect with these modifications:
•Rules meeting will be conducted at tournament ramp (5:00PM, Sat.)
•At least one team member must be in attendance to register.
(Sponsor dinner has been eliminated due to recommendations of the members. Although very much appreciated they would prefer to spend the time preparing for the tournament)
The WAT membership fee: $20.00 per person (annual) and Tournament fee: $325 per team per tournament remains the same.
Payout Schedule remains the same:
80% payout to 25% of the field
Payout 50 Teams
1st. $4,200
2nd. $2,400
3rd. $1,800
4th. thru 13th. $360
Big Fish $500
The Walleye Anglers Trail remains the pre-eminent river Walleye Tournament Circuit in the country. It provides:
•Fishermen & women new to tournament fishing wishing to compete in a format that allows them to demonstrate their fishing prowess and also gain experience by learning new tactics.
•Fishermen & women who simply enjoy competitive fishing with a professionally run tournament circuit at reasonable costs.
•Fishermen & women who want to hone their skills to be competitive on the national level.

| 325.00 for a 1 day tournament? kinda steep. they should knock the fee down to 200 a boat and not have 2 tourneys in iowa. i used to fish the circuit and loved it till the iowa guys got there way. i guess when one of the big sponsors is a circuit iowa guy they get what they want. i dont see the circuit going forward unless everybody has a say in the format. just my opinoin. its like to iowa guys want to have evrything right in there backdoor. to much conflict of interest with the dubuque walleye club. would you rather fish a tourney in a non slot fishery or a slot fishery? i would rather have it in a non slot format. i can see having 1 tourney out of iowa pools but 2? no thanks. |

“325 for a one day tournament? Kinda steep”
$325 per tournament has been the going price for the past three years. The members wanted the increase in fees to improve the tournament payouts. I don’t think anyone can argue about the payout schedule. I think I explained fully the reasons for switching from the two to the one day tournament in the above post.
“I don’t see the circuit going forward unless everybody has a say in the format”.
I have invested heavily (time, effort & money) to run, what I believe to be, the finest Walleye Circuit in the mid-west with the best of the best walleye fishermen/women as its members. I take this format change very seriously and do so only to grow the circuit. I have talked to many past/present members & non but potential tournament fishermen and I believe that I made the correct decision. I am ultimately responsible for the circuits success or failure. I can only hope that the decisions I make are the right ones.
“I used to fish the circuit and loved it until the Iowa guys got there way”.
“Its like the Iowa guys want to have everything in there backdoor”
Guest, obviously you haven’t been keeping track of the WAT these past few years. Let me enlighten you:
2006 Schedule
Genoa, WI
Eastman, WI
LaCrosse, WI
Trempealeau. WI.
2005 Schedule
Genoa, WI
Bellevue, IA
LaCrosse, WI
Prairie du Chien, WI
Dubuque, IA - Championship
2004 Schedule
Bellevue, Ia.
Genoa, WI
LaCrosse, WI.
Trempealeau, WI
Dubuque, IA - Championship
These locations don’t appear to favor the Iowa guys!
“I guess when one of the big sponsors is a circuit iowa guy they get what they want”
Actually, all of the Walleye Anglers Trail cash sponsors are from the Dubuque, Ia area. I think it is appropriate to schedule at least one tournament so they can reap some advertising benefit.
“To much conflict of interest with the Dubuque walleye club”
I have no idea what you are talking about!

Location: Chicago IL. | Bill, your doing a fine job and dont let a guy hide behind his keys get to you. I think the new format will do good for you. Let me know if I could help out in anyway. |

|
| might try to fish the last one bill. unfortunatly the first 3 dates coincides with the IWT trail i fish. good luck with the new format and i hope everything goes well. its a great trail with many really good fisherman. very well run and a lot of fun! |

|
| bill why not pool 4or5?lots of walleye fisherman up there |
|
|
|
| Tony i've actually asked that question for years now and the same response has been maybe we can check on it next year. Pool 4 has some awesome fishermen. |
|
|
|
| I disagree, there are 1001 tournaments on that pool (4) already. Would like to see some events on 5, 5a, and 6 though. I think sticking with pools 5-13 is the way to go. |
|
|
|
| there is a reason why tournaments are held on pool 4 teams show up to fish.I would rather fish somewhere if i knew the possibilty of picking up alot more teams is there. Like you said 5 5a and 6 would be great. Not quite sure why in so many years that the wat has not gone up there.I hope its not the drive |

|
| i remember they used to have some on the illinois river. that would be cool. |
