Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | I just got back from Frank's Great Outdoors. Haven't been in there for close to 2 months. What promted me to make the trip was a new invention called a Pac Shack Shelter (link below) that sels for under $100.00. Well, I gave the thing the flop, push and pull test and I bought one. It's a combo (flip top) chair/ice fishing shanty that caught my eye on another message board, and Franks just happen to get some in yesterday. Now, I already have a huge Ottter II Lodge I haul behind my 4 wheeler and use for ice charters on Saginaw Bay, but always wanted something light, strong, portable and roomy enough for those one man trips. This thing fits the bill and was made for a big man or a guy dressed to the nines. As a side note Franks also had 2 man Viking shanties for $79.00 and 3 man Vikings for $99.00. I had to get the heck out of there fast.

| Dan,
I seen some of those here at our local Gander Mt or Scheels, I forget which. They caught my interest cause a guy can be mobile which is the key to ice fishing in my opinion. The only thing I thought would be a concern would be wind if you're not in it, I think we all know how the wind likes to steal things on the ice. Let us know how it works out for ya. | |

Jayman.
I thought of that first thing. Even though I'm not a (head out) kind of guy in stiff winds, this thing is so light I know I better stayed seated if it is windy. I also thought of having the wife sew me up a portable sand bag I could fill with kitty litter or some other bendable substance and lay it on the chairs spokes underneath it. If you don't see it in the classified section by March, you'll know it worked out O.K.
