Location: Rhinelander | My friends at Indian Point Camp on Wabigoon Lake in Dryden, Ontario contacted me this week to confirm WalleyeFIRST coverage of the 2007 PWT Super Pro on the Goon. Obviously, we will be there! Wabigoon has been my favorite Muskie and BIG walleye destination in Ontario for over 25 years, so this one will be a true working vacation.
The PWT has brought many innovative concepts and practices to the sport of competitive walleye angling over the years, so it wasn't a big surprise when Jim Kalkofen, Executive Director of the PWT, confirmed in a telephone conversation today the Super Pro event to be held July 25,26, and 27 in Dryden. This is the first major Walleye trail/tour event to visit our fine neighbors to the North.
The city of Dryden will support this event much like Bismarck, North Dakota,
supported the 2006 the PWT Championship. The Rec center in Dryden is first class, so the weigh in will be in doors and perfect for spectators, who WILL turn out in numbers as fishing is very popular there. The fishery is absolutely fantastic, offering some of the best trophy walleye opportunities anywhere in Canada. I have several over 30" from Wabigoon, all caught while fishing Muskies. I can't wait to see what some of the finest Walleye anglers in the World can do there.
The Media will be there in force, and special events will be scheduled in the near future allowing the writers and media folks to get a taste of Wabigoon's tremendous trophy fishing potential, and provide a snap shot for the rest of us as to Dryden's history and rich heritage.
More next week as Jim Kalkofen and Charlie Moore visit with us in WalleyeFIRST Interviews about the 2007 PWT Schedule. |

Location: Dryden, Ontario | Well I see the cat is out of the bag. This is very exciting news for Dryden and Canada. The buzz around here is very good. I have gotten may calls from friends who want to know how to sign up!!
This is going to be a great show for the Pro's. The whole town is taking this very seriously and I know they are all going to do a great job to welcome everyone who attends.
This should be a very exciting fishing event and a great challenge for the Pro’s. There are many options and no two Pro’s will be doing the same thing, well some will but the presentation options are going to be many. At this time of the year the fishing will be good but not easy. It will make it a very competitive event.
I am interested to see what new techniques the Super Pro’s will uncover and they will there is no doubt about that. This is a very big body of water consisting of about 12 lakes which all hold fish at one time or another. The guys will for sure be spread out across the system making it a great place to fish. There absolutely should be no pack fishing at this event. There is plenty of room for everyone to get off on there own!
It is nice to see the PWT expanding into the great white north. Soon there will be a website set up for the event and as soon as it is available I will post it.

| Great news! I actually knew about it a few weeks ago, and I think the choice is awesome. It sounds like we can upgrade, no slots, and catch and release. A true shoot out for some of the most talented walleye fishermen in the world! Congrats to the PWT for going international...I encouraged this for years, even as far back as when the Lindners owned In-Fish. I truly look forward to this tournament and it will surely make the winter seem a little longer! All have a great day!

| this will be intresting, because of the strict border crossing. im sure that some of these pro's won't be able get into canada because of past drunk driving convictions. |

Location: Dryden, Ontario | Mr. Fellegy you are correct this is going to be a good old fashion shoot out. No one should run away with it but they may and everyone will catch fish.
This is going to be a great contest I can assure you of that. The guys are going to have fun fishing this system.
About the guys and not getting across the boarder. My suggestion to anyone would be to get permission to cross way in advance. I believe you can do this. I would not wait to get to the boarder to find out if you can cross or not.
At the boarder it is strictly up to the Customs agent weather you get across or not so depending on their mood at the time you are taking a very big chance. If you have pre approval and documentation they can not hold you back unless you give them reason to.

| For those who have received a DUI in the states...they can cross. There is paperwork and there are fees involved. But it is done daily.
Those who have this issue, should get started on the process, asap.

| Hello...
Great news for walleye fishing in Canada. John B, how many hours would you figure the drive would be from Niagara Falls Ontario to Dryden, as I have to fish a MWC event on July 21, 22nd. I am wondering if I can make it in time for the Super-Pro event as a Co-Angler. Also what would be the nearest airport if I was to fly-in from Toronto.
Wow...this is great stuff.

Location: Timmins, Ontraio, Canada | Hey sheldon, it would take you around 20 hours or more. I live in Timmins ontario and it would take me 12-13 hours to drive to Dryden and the falls is about 8-9 hours from timmins. I hope to be there but it might be easier for me to cross the border. Waiting to see where the rest of the events will be. |

Location: Dryden, Ontario | Hey Sheldon, Matt is correct it will take you about 20 hrs give or take and hour depending on how you drive. Me it would take about 17 or 18 as I do tend to push the speed limit. Best route would be through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnisota to International falls.
To fly you would want to fly into Thunder Bay or Winnipeg. From Windosr to Thunder Bay you are looking at about $400.00 round trip.
If you plan correctly I bet you will be able to hook up a drive from either Thunder Bay or Winnipeg with another Co-Angler. There will be several coming from both areas.
I will do what I can to help anyone out who wants to come a s a co-angler. I have friends both from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg coming so if anyone needs help just email me.

| Congrats Dryden!
I usually fish walleye tournaments east of Thunder Bay.
I own Thunder Bay Fishing dot com and the buzz is out here already.
Way to go!
If I can't fish it I should be there for the weigh in.
Once again, This is big news and well deserved!
