The final trip... 12/7/2006
For younger BassFans, today might seem like any other day. But for most BassFans, Dec. 7 marks a moment when the world changed, and not for the better. While there are an estimated 4,000 to 6,000 survivors of Pearl Harbor still living, today is the last time they'll travel together and gather as a group at the site of the infamous attack.
The Combat Report, a sister site of BassFan.com, this morning published a moving tribute to those men and women who desperately fought to defend U.S. soil 65 years ago. To read it, click here.

In-Fish, others sold 12/7/2006
Primedia today announced an agreement to sell all its hunting, fishing and shooting titles to InterMedia Outdoor Inc. – an entity controlled by New York-based private-equity firm InterMedia Partners. The $170 million sale price includes all magazines, TV and radio shows, events, and products operated as part of Primedia's Outdoors Group.
Included in the sale will be 17 magazines, including In-Fisherman, Florida Sportsman, Fly Fisherman, Game & Fish, Petersen's Hunting, and Petersen's Bowhunting, plus 11 TV shows. The Professional Walleye Trail – operated by In-Fisherman – was also part of the deal.
This is the second announcement of a wide-sweeping sale of outdoor titles this fall. The first occurred in September, when Time Inc. announced its intent to sell Time4 media properties Outdoor Life, Field & Stream and Saltwater Sportsman.
Rumors have circulated for at least 2 years that Primedia would sell its Outdoor Group due to underperformance. Primedia chairman, president and CEO Dean Nelson said in a press release: "We continue to dedicate focus on core products that will create value for the company over time. The sale of these titles is an incremental and positive step towards our goal of improving our balance sheet and reducing our financial leverage."
What's not known at this time is whether InterMedia will continue to acquire other outdoor-enthusiast properties. Last May, it made a sizable investment in The Sportsman Channel. And the New York Post recently reported that InterMedia is one of many firms "in the hunt" for Time4's properties (Outdoor Life, Field & Stream). If it did acquire Time4's properties, it would own a clear majority of the outdoor-enthusiast publishing market.
