Location: Orland Park, IL | Nothing huge, but a lot of action. 16 to 21 or so. Stopped by at voyagers and boat launch. Launch was open, though some sloppy ice just got blown in. Talked to a copy of fellows in an alumacraft and they did ok. Kindy chilly, but please, fished this stuff before.
Will be hittin' it soon. I gots an itch.

| Yes indeed, the Walleyes are still hitting at Depere. The docks are out so you need 2 people to launch your boat. 1/4 oz Chartruese fussy grubs with a minnow 6 feet of water up near the dam. Lots of nice fish including a 9 1/2 lb eye last week. Should be good as long as you can stand the cold wet weather the next few days. I noticed Winnebago is breaking up and sending a lot of ice down through the Neenah and Menasha Dam, don't think it will make it as far as Depere.

Location: Orland Park, IL | Yep, fished today and had a great time. 3 casts from voyager, 3 fish. Ran to BP for batteries and coffee, and wouldnt you know, ran into a walleyefirst regular at the ramp. Was kinda enough to give me a ride and show me all the secret spots.
Say whats with the blindfold and duct tape around mouth? He says its a depere thing. Felt more like "being in the web" from pulp fiction, or should I say pulp fishin.
Anyway nice to be out. Will give it another shot tomorrow. |

| Hit Depere again today, up near dam, 6 feet of water, chartruese fussy grubs and a minnow. Caught my biggest fish today on a streamer fly in green red tinsel with no minnow that I tied over last winter. Hey maybe these things really do work. Now if I can just find the time to try the other 200 colors I tied last winter.
Caught and released about a dozen fish in the 18-24 inch range today.

| I went back again today with 2 new guys and each one of them had a hand held GPS to mark the exact spot (within inches) of where we fished yesterday. I made sure I told them that if they see a guy in a 21 foot Aluminicraft to stop and say Jayman sent them. Oh wait, "my brother's boat is back at the aluminum factory so they will be in Jayson's 16 footer with 2 feet of beer cans for added flotation.
Me "telling everyone" about Depere is like giving out directions to Lambeau Field, everyone knows where it is and it's January for God's sake. Who in there right mind is going to drive more than 25 miles to fish for radioactive fish anyway... do you know they will cook themselves at 450 degrees if left in the livewell for 45 minutes... kinda like a MRE.
Now on to the fishing report. Beautiful day for January, windy as heck but we still managed to boat 25+ Walleyes in the 18-23 inch Range. 120 feet of water running boards with dipsy divers and rattle tats in Blueberry Muffin. Got 2 on a kite running floating Reble Fast Tracks.... there, you think that will throw anyone off!!!
Actually, same deal as yesterday, 1/8 oz chartruese fussy grubs tiped with a big minnow. Also a #9 Rapala Firetiger managed to catch a few.

Hope you know everything was meant as a joke to lighten the mood.... If he is getting out of line, just tell him I'll cut off his boating privileges in my boat.
I did manage another trip today with my friend Axle and we had another good on the water, but you won't have to worry about any more reports from me for a while... I just put my boat away for good till late spring.
Not too many guys on the water today and no one was fishing in the secrete honey hole. Fish ranged in size today from 18-24 inches.

I just wish you would listen to me and take my advice and get rid of that Skeeter and Yamaha and buy a Warrior and a Mercury. It was nice to see that you had some anchors today in the boat though. |
