"Wednesday, Jan. 24th. Little Bay's repor"

some colder morning temps. the past few days definitely firming up the ice throughout the upper Bays. At 8' and 10'the past several mornings and now seeing ice thickness to almost 10" in some places.
Snow cover this past couple days also has covered the ice illiminating the extreme "slickness" having a few days ago.
Anglers now are seen fishing around the Escanaba River and having heard of 3" to 5" inches of ice. Also off the Terrace Bay access this morning seeing 1 "lone" angler working the breakline.

Walleye bite: guess best described as fair to OK. Best bites coming while jigging spoons, Raps and setting live-bait off tip-ups.
I spent several hours on the north end of the Bay yesterday afternoon/evening catching one 15 inch walleye, several undersize and a few perch. Jigging was the method......

Northern Pike: still activity in the Harbors area of Kipling and Esky. Weed beds and water depths to 15 feet although you'll also find Pike relating to the deep water breaks searching for food.
Spearing shanties reporting seeing good numbers of pike along with other game fish always in their areas.
Large "golden" shiners and suckers between 6" and 10" doing a good job! ALSO REPORTS OF SEVERAL REAL NICE WALLEYE COMING ON THOSE LARGE SUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!

Perch: just about everyday hearing of some good catches of perch and "jumbo's" as well. In talking with a gentleman last night at the north launch having a nice bucket of perch and several 10 to 11 1/2 inches. Being caught mostly using 1" size minnows, wigglers and waxies off tear drop jigs and spoons.

Several fisherman catching a few "whitefish" fishing also the deeper water breaks with their slip-sinker rigs off bottom.

WITH THE SUN JUST RISING OVER THE BAY HERE AT 8:30 AM TEMPS. ARE TO BE IN THE MIDDLE 20'S ALL DAY TODAY!

FISH PHOTO: (I'LL GET THE PHOTO UP LATER ON TODAY)
Here Tommy Davis shows us a really nice 14 inch "plus" Crappie he caught yesterday while fishing for walleye/perch in the upper Bay.
Good job Tommy,
