| I have a brand new 150 hp 2-cycle Merc. with carb. I Hope it is the last engine I will ever buy. Merc recomends Merc or Quicksilver Premium 2-cycle TC-W3 outboard oil. If not available any oil that is NMMA Certified TC-W3. IS it worth using the more costly premium Plus synthetic blend 2-cycle oil made by Quicksilver in a high hp engine ? Other questions I have are
1. Do you need to add a product like Yamah's Ring Free to each tank of gas ?
2. Are other brands of oil like Amsoil better ?
3. Are synthetic oils better than synthetic blend oils ?
4. Is buying bulk 2-cycle oil safe ? OR just cheaper ?
My boat is in Oshkosh WI, Looking for the right oil,From the right place,At the right price.

| I think synthetics are better, and mostly from a less smoke point of view. Any TCW-3 oil is ok, but I would lean towards the blend or full synthetic. Mercury recommends, and markets QuickKleen, I think it is. Same as ring free. I buy my Opti oil from Mr Marine, in Fond du Lac. I'm sure he has Premium Plus, too. |

| You can get Mercury Premium Plus at Fleet Farm and Gander Mountain, too. Sometimes on sale for about $12.99 a gallon. Where did you find a 150 carb. engine? I would like to find a Merc 200 classic. |

| I bought a brand new rig that came with a new motor but the year that it was built was 2005. It was on a brand new 2005 Trophy 1903 center console that he wanted to sell real bad. You can reach Lodder's Marine Sales INC in Fairfield, Oh at 513-874-6333. Don't know if he has anymore specials.

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Almost every marina has bulk oil. The use of straight synthetic in a carburated 2-stroke motor is not recommended. There is the possibilty of shining the cylinder walls and loosing compression. |
