Just curious if some one can tell me what the experation date for the 2006 license from last year is. I talked to some one who said the license they purchased for the MWC last year says 2006. Also does anyone know if the Illinois fishing license is all we would need for the Dubuque MWC tournament.

Illinois Licenses are good till March 31, 2007 (2006 License). A 2007 License is good till March 31, 2008. Don't know about the Mississippi River... read the Illinois and Iowa rules on line. Iowa can be different.

Ok the Iowa regulations read that I could use the Illinois license as long as you do not tie off or anchore off Iowa land. Or fish any tributaries from Iowa.

To my understanding A IL lic is good on the Miss river in dub. But if you go past the line you will need a WI lic also. I have been aksed for my lic on the river from a IA warden and I was anchored above a wingdam and he said everything was fine. I know that tourneys that we had in Iowa did not require a IA lic as long as we had a IL lic. Now this was 2 years ago and things might have changed but boundries water are if you have one state or the other. Pool 13 gets tricky with WI in the northern part of the pool.

So with a wis. and a Il. year long I would be good for the entire MWC central.

I copied this from the Iowa fishing regulations concerning the boundry waters of Iowa and Illinois.

Iowa or Illinois fishing licenses can be used by hook-and-line anglers on the Mississippi River proper, including its backwater lakes and sloughs contiguous with the flow of waters in the main channel.

You cannot fish from or attach any device or equipment to the main bank of the Mississippi River under the jurisdiction of the state where you are not licensed to fish.

You cannot fish in any tributaries of the opposite state.

You must conform with regulations of the state in which you are fishing unless the regulations of your state are more restrictive, then you must conform with the more restrictive regulations.

So you (an Illinois Resident with an Illinois license and a Wisconsin non-resident license) can anchor but not tie off in Iowa waters with an Illinois/Wisconsin license....

An Illinois Resident could also fish in Wisconsin waters of the river if they did not have a Wisconsin non-resident license but did have an Iowa Non-Resident license (but only as far north as the Minnesota line)...

Seems the best deal financially is an Illinois Resident license and a Wisconsin-Non resident, because you can fish from the foot of the Mississippi in Illinois to the upper reach of the Mississippi until in is enclose by Minnesota on both banks... (Missouri and Iowa are feebies on the river).
