I was in gb last weekand and its not completly open and there is ice junks everywhere but there is also some areas that are wide open. maybe a week or 2 depending on weather it might be open enough.As far as your question on cranks or jigs its prespawn time and alittle slower presentation helps with the bite so i'd say jigging! IMHO

I crossed the river this saturday the first bridge downstream from the dam and that river was solid as far as I could see in both directions.
