What problems???? There were a couple of 334ci's that wouldn't lock in but they were fixed with an upgrade. Since then Lowrance has had zero problems with units including internal GPS. I have three of them and they all work fine.

Jerry the problem he may be talking about is the one I had where the 334 would drop then lock then drop...etc.

I talked to Chris G at the Kiel Sportsman's show in January. I told him it was on the bow so it wasn't obstructed. He asked me if I had it tipped back, more horizontal than vertical. He said that probably is the problem, based on what the Lowrance techs were telling him.

I am trying to find some kind of extension to raise the unit off the bow so I can see it without having to tilt back.

I was told the 520-c (new version of the 334) has the problem fixed.

I hope the latest update solved the issue. My 339C continually dropped and picked up the signal all day long. Yes it had a slight tilt in the bow, but how else can you use it. Poor design. My old 168 Garmin with internal antenae did not have these issues anywhere on my boat. I feel Lowrance did not do their homework on this one. If it was just a software issue and not antenae placement, I will be a happy guy.
Take care,

Jim thankyou this is the problem I was wandering about. Guess I was not clear enoungh because I have had very few problems with other lowrance products. Jerry you have 3 up-dated units with no problems?? I have new boat on the way & would like to try 520 on bow but was concerned thanks.

I added the internal antenna because I didn't want to add another external antenna and the boat is older and it would have been difficult to add Lowrance Net.

If I were rigging a new boat I would seriously look at Lowrance net.

I had the 334 built before June 06. It had gps recp. problems. Lowrance replaced it
this March with a new 334 with the June 06 updates. It works very well.
Happy me.

I have a 334c with the same problem. I thought it was because i mounted the puck behind me by the motor? I moved it forward this past weekend and it still come in and out. Who and how did you contact Lorance? I got my unit from Sheels. My unit is 2 years old. And thanks for the heads up
