| hi everyone i am new to planer board fishing and was wondering if you can run bottom bouncers whith them or snap weights or are the just for crankbaits. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks rick herman

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | You can run up to 3 ounce bottom bouncers on planer boards.
I use the the double bounce method if I want them on the bottom. I let out line until I feel that the bouncer is on bottom (slack line), I engage the reel and hold for about 20 seconds, I let out line again until the bouncer is on bottom, I put on the planer board. |

| I know a guy who ran shiny gold plated 4 oz. bottom bouncers on Lake Erie on boards. We didn't finish very well that day. hehehe
Yup, I'd say 3 oz is about it. But in anything from 15-40', I use 2 Oz'ers. I use the 1 1/2 maethod. If your LC reels are full, and accurate, let out line 1 1/2 times the depth. This is of course speed dependant. In this case, .8-1.2 MPH. Speed it up, you may need to do Sunshine's method. |

Location: Manitowoc WI | I use Bottom bouncers as a universal tool. U can use any size, and any weight on any planer board. it depends on speed and depth. i open the bail and let out enough line till you feal bottom real good.. then i crank it up till i just feal an occasional tick. Bouncers will definatly snag if you let them drag on rocks. however you can drag them in the mud to make the bottom disruption.. I also use 1/2 1/4 1/8 and 1/16 th oz ones for drifting. Silent death is also an awsome technique that everyone should learn... Every boat should be equipted with a set of bouncers. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Hey Justin, my boat is equipped with a set of bouncers, but only when the wife is with me. LOL! On a more serious note, the advice given here is a great source of info. Pay attention to these guys and you'll pick up on a lot of productive techniques. Thanks Guys! |
