Water Temp

Guest Posted 3/30/2007 1:06 PM (#53337) Subject: Water Temp When you hear people talking about water temp and the walleye spawn is from this temp to this temp they are always referring to surface temp right? And if so, Ive seen the surface temp rise or fall 6-8 degrees in a full day. What would that have to do with spawn. Im just trying to expand my knowledge. All animals have a gland known as the pineal gland which detects environmental light changes. This gland is what triggers whitetail doe estrous cycles and, I believe, female walleye triggers for spawning. Other things which affect spawning are current, weather, and health.
