Location: Manitowoc, WI | Water temperature will play a role in when fish spawn, but I believe the amount of light is the key. All animals have a gland known as the pineal gland which detects environmental light changes. This gland is what triggers whitetail doe estrous cycles and, I believe, female walleye triggers for spawning. Other things which affect spawning are current, weather, and health. |
