Subject: 92 Ranger steering


I need to replace my 150inch dual rack steering cables. Any input on new/used and where t6o get the best for my buck. My 10 year old son is getting jigginitus. Thanks to all , Aaron

You can replace the dual rack with a single cable system (including helm) for $169.95. You pull the cables and the entire rack system out and replace with the new system. Easy to follow instructions. In about 3 ours you will be done. American Marine in Shawano stocks them, however they do not come in 1/2 lengths, you have to go either 12 ft. or 13ft. I just did this to my '91 690.

Forgot to mention, that the dual cables are about $150.00 each. The guy also said that it is likely you may have problems with the gears in the rack system down the road after you replace the cables.
