| WHen you guys and gals are vertical jiging from the bow do you prefer to stand leaning on a casting seat or sit?

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I installed a butt seat with an extended lift so I can nearly stand and lean against it. In order to be most effective you need to be at your most upright point in order to get proper rod position. |

| I agree with Jerry - I like to be standing, but it's nice to have something to lean on once and a while.

| I sit on my butt seat, and I use a MinnKota cable drive. I hold my rods at the waters edge and lift as needed when I hit rocks or the bottom changes depth. I never like to have my rod tips high off the water and stay vertical as much as possible. By sitting as much as I can I save the stress on my legs and back, plus it's just easier for me to work my foot control. If I stand I just feel that every wave makes me work harder to stay on my foot control and puts more stress on my lower back to keep me pinned to the seat.
It's just up to each person to do what makes you most effective an keep your jigs vertical. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Quarter Casting: Sitting always. Better feel more finesse control with elbows resting on lap lifting with wrist only.
Slipping the Current: Standing, very serious. Sitting not as serious.

| I alternate between standing/leaning and sitting. I like the new butt seat. It's a bit bigger, and it's easy to do both. My heels get sore if I stand all day, so I have to change positions occaisionaly. I prefer to stand/lean, but sometimes, I just gotta take a break. |

Location: townsend,wi | I know you all use 2 rods and so did i when i fished the mwc back in the 80's and 90's,but i remember when i sat down one time and was talking to gary roach,he said i use 1 rod when i vertically jig,he said you have all day to catch 5 fish,so just concentrate on doing that.i think he was right! |
