Location: Rhinelander | The FLW League event on Petenwell broke a 2007 tournament record for WalleyeFIRST. The weather was beautiful!
Temps rising into the 70's and strong South winds changed the bite during the day, as the jig bite turned off and the trolling bite awakened.
Over 75 Pros of the 86 fishing weighed fish, with about 30 limits coming to the scales. Big fish were absent for the most part. Denny Fox, Fort Fremont Marine Tuffy/Mercury Pro, weighed the largest fish of the event at 3.1#.
Vertical jigging, trolling cranks, and casting cranks were the successful techniques today.
Mr. Zalewski, a Roselle Il Pro, said this was his first FLW League competition. He had hoped to just cash a check. Gary admitted this was a better start to the League competition than he had hoped for, but he earned the win by fishing hard and boating the right fish as a result.
Co Angler Champion Brad Ksionek is familiar with the water, having years of experience fishing Petenwell for 'eyes.
Watch for the final standings, images, and videos soon.
Mark Kordus took home the $1000.00 Toyota Trucks Walleye Tournament Rewards money, driving his new Toyota Truck to the Petenwell FLW League event after picking it up this week. There were several Toyota Tundra vehicles at the event, so watch for this competition to heat up as the season moves forward!

Location: Rhinelander | The FLW release crew reports One Hundred Percent of the walleyes brought to the scale were released alive.
One required mouth to mouth, but reports were it was handled discreetly and the fish survived. | |
