| AS a co do you guys in the League slip the boater some coin for his efforts, gas bait etc.............?
How about pre fishing with some one also?
If so how much?

Location: Elgin, Illinois | Yes.... somewhere between $20 and $40 is the usual... depends on the length of the run and cost of bait/baits... It is an individual decision. |

Again depending on har far we travel and how much bait we go through I will usually slip the boater around $40.00 to $60.00 dollars. 2 weeks ago at Petenwell I gave $60.00 to my boater: we didn't run very far but lost about a dozen #7 shad-raps.
I look at it this way, $150.00 entry fee + $60.00 to the pro + 8 hr's on the water fishing = a great day fishing for a less than most guides charge!
Remember - they are letting you use their boat, their tackle, and their knowledge.

| I got zip from my coangler at Petenwell. I attribute that to his just signing up that Friday night, and the typical suggestion from Kevin was not made at the rules meeting. I bought 5 dozen minnows, lost about a dozen jigs, and used 20 gallons of fuel. Something would have helped. I always offered when I was a coangler. Most gladly accepted, some argued to reuse. I usually found a place to put it in the truck anyway. |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | The offer is always a nice guestuer. I did however refuse any money from my co at Petenwell. I felt absolutly terrible that my bite died in that wind. I was 100% confident going into that event that the good fish I had been catching during prefishing would hold up.
I would not have felt right accepting money from a co who went out with those same expectations based on my prefishing and being let down. My co was awesome and took it all in stride, but I personally felt that I failed both him and myself. Offer something if you can, it's a great thing. I personally feel that what you offer should be based on your experience.
If your boater is fun to be around, makes an effort to make you part of the team, and does everything that they can think of to make your day enjoyable, give more. If they are a rude jerk who puts you down, offer nothing or very little. As a boater I don't really remember how much money somebody gave me after a day on the water, I usually remember the person and how the day went.
I can tell you this, there are a handfull of cos out there that I've met and talked to several times, that I wish I would draw. I know that I would have a blast on the water with any of those guys and the money issue would be so small that I honestly would not care if they gave me a cent. Pay what you feel it's worth and enjoy the experience. That's what's really important anyway. |

Location: Orland Park, IL | Yep, dukin' a couple of bucks cant hurt. I even offer a couple of bucks to my pre fishing boater too. God knows it aint cheap. Heck, I know it aint cheap.
A lot has to do with attitude of the boater. Most are good, some are great. The great ones get a little more.
Plus you never know. What's shep, or any boater, gonna say when they see a prior co who forgot "to do the right thing". "See that guy over there. Nice guy.....but ". You'd be surprised who you run into. You never know.
PS Redwing update. 1 one today, nice, slow overall. Off to Hager City Drive Thru for broasted chicken. 58 over the bridge. At first four way, they are on the corner. |

| I believe the hwy you want is 63. Take it into WI, over the high bridge & WI channel. Drive in on the right at the 4-way stop. Should be able to smell the chicken at the stop sign, if the wind is right. |

Location: Elgin, Illinois | Actually spent seven days in a row with Komo... And, despite all of the warnings... he turned out to be almost "likeable"... LOL in a "puppy dog" kind of way... And, he was house broke... j/k...
Anybody that can take seven days "on the road" with Dennis and me is a pretty easy going guy... We had a great time together in Red Wing... (at least Dennis and I did)... Mark may have suffered some ear trauma at night....
There are some great pics of them both here and "elsewhere"....
