The bite has been good on the river and the lakes, so anticipation was high this morning as a full field of PWT Pros and Co Anglers waited to begin competition. The weather looks bearable if a bit uncertain; the front moving through has been held to the south a bit, keeping the rain at bay at least for this morning.
Temperatures were in the mid 40's, with East winds at 10 to 20 for the day. Showers may be an issue, with high temps under cloudy skies in the 50's.
Lund/Mercury Pro Mike Gofron said his pre-fish went well, and commented that the fish are definitely on the move.
Skeeter/Yamaha Pro Brad Davis spoke of a spotty pre-fish period, but felt confident he could put 5 in the box pulling cranks. Watch for interviews with Mike and Brad later this morning.
PWT Executive Director Jim Kalkofen predicted one of the best weights in PWT/Winnebago waters history, if the weather holds.
Watch for the WalleyeFIRST Live Leaderboard to begin at 3 PM Central.

I believe that everyones wish that mutiply presentations are working will come true. From what I am hearing people will be able to fish to their strengths and we will hear of fish caught trolling, shallow jigging, slip bobbering, verticle jigging and casting. Reports indicate that fish can and will be caught in all parts of the system. I believe that the winner will be the person that finds an area all to themselves and they will not have to fight the crowds for position. The weather will play a major factor if it keeps changing. You may need multiple spots to bring in a limit every day. We all know how wind and waves can produce fish on one spot today but they could be gone tomorrow. Who will bring in that big 5, 6, 7, or 8 pounder to anchor a good limit? How many people will throw back 16-17 inch fish to risk having a limit of 20 inchers.
