Location: Oshkosh, WI | I have a LCX-15MT with Hot Maps W 2002 card and a 16MB SD/MMC card. The unit came with my boat when I bought it used a few years back. I did not get any software for the unit. I want to download the waypoints to my computer but I am wondering if I need MapCreate 6 to do this because every time I put the cards into my computer it says it is not formatted.
I downloaded some software from Lowrance website, GPS Data Manager, but that gave the same format error message when trying to read the card.
Does anyone know if I need to purchase the software in order for this to work, I want to have back up for my data.
Thank you- |

| If you just want to do waypoint manipulation, and don't have Map Create, you can download GDM 16 from Lowrance. This will work if you do NOT have MapCreate loaded.
Some computers need the Lowrance card reader, it appears. Mine does not. It works with several readers.

Location: Laona, Wisconsin | DO NOT try to format the Hot Maps card. You will lose your maps on the card. Does the X15 recognize the 16MB card? If it does you can reformat the card with the X15. Only put the 16MB card into the X15 if you do this. Put it in the A (left side) of the card tray.
If it does not recognize the card in your X15, the card can be formatted with your computer. Open Windows Explorer. Put your card reader into the computer and put your 16MB card into the card reader. Watch to see what drive shows the card as. Just right click on what ever drive it comes up in Windows Explorer and click on format. Select FAT under the File System. Then click on Start. The card should be formatted when it gets done. Try the unit again into your X15. You should now be able to Save your waypoints, track, routes and icons as a .usr file to the card.
I have never use the Data Manager, but you should now be able to open the file in that software.
Make sure you keep the Hot Maps card off to the side somewhere so that you do not get the two mixed up while you are doing this procedure. You don't want to lose your maps on that card.
