My first outing on Bago this year went well... I started off trolling Garlic, the outer bar, the Neenah River with no luck at all. I thought I'd try an old spot on the west shore South of Neenah. On my first pass, my outside board went back and felt heavy.... Turned out to be a 1 lb round ball of Zebra Mussels (that's cruel).
So on my next pass, I did not get very excited when all 3 boards went back at the same time, but it turns out I had my first triple of the year, a little dancing and I had 3 nice 17 inch Walleyes swimming in the livewell.

I made another 10 passes and nothing so I decided to run back to the Menasha River to fish for the last 90 minutes of the day, but the river was so full of dead Lakeflies that it was unfishable, so I went back to the spot I had caught the triple and stated to cast #5 Black and Silver Shads... and I caught 11 Walleyes between 16-22 inches in less that an hour.. That was the most fun I think I've had on Bago in a while, I normally don't cast, but it was such a beautiful evening and I was not really expecting to catch anything casting... I caught a 22 inch Walleye on my first cast that was only 25 feet from the boat.

With gas prices as high as they are, I think I'll be spending more time around my ole hotspots on the west shore this year.

PS

Thanks for the report. Glad you had a great day on the water. It is really neat when the fish cooperate when you least expect it!!!

Happy fishing to all

Unreal, I had the whole lake to myself and now you post something like this and ruin it for me. How you can you look yourself in the mirror. Especially the WEST shore, NOBODY has this pattern down. Take your posts and........just teasing PS, great job on the fish and keep the reports coming. The people that matter appreciate them.

I'm finally catching up at work and will be out tomorrow for the first time in two weeks. I was going to ask for tips about fishing tactics during an extreme lake fly hatch but I guess casting cranks might work Any other suggestions?
