Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Headed out this morning about 7:45am into what N.O.A.A. weather and the National Weather Service called 1 footers. Ran into something else, A.K.A. 3 footers with a couple 4's thrown in. My plans of fishing NE of the Spark Plug were changed fast. So I headed up wind, straight into the steady 15 knot NW wind towards the Pinconning Bar. The running close and along the shore wasn't that bad. Ran the boat right up as close as I dare into 11 FOW. Turned with the wind and put out the spoon harnesses and Gulp 25 feet back with 1 ounce snap weights. I could tell that 3 of the 4 spoon rigs on my planner board tether line were dragging in the mud. But before I could adjust them all hell broke loose. Long story short we boated 22, keeping 15. It's all the nice fish we lost half way to the boat that still has me frustrated. Rather they were having a hard time getting the offering in their mouths because of them scraping bottom, or the Gulp was preventing them from getting a good hold. Either way, I'm replacing the back single hooks with trebels tonight and headed back out into the predicted 1 footers again tomorrow.   8)

You won't believe who was in your neck of the woods today. Yup,good old Sunshine. Looked for ya' on the water and on the radio. We saw your truck at the landing when we pulled off at 11:30 with a nice limit of 18-22 fish. It was an unbelievable day with doubles and triples and even a time when we had four on at once. Sounds like you were running a similar rig. We caught all of our fish on the Eyeliminator spoon/crawler harness rigs. Tommy Harris and the boys from Eyeliminator have made a true believer out of me with this setup. Franks had a great selection and I had to touch and feel everyone before heading home to Wisconsin. I'll be fishing on the bay again tomorrow if you want to chat on the marine radio. Awesome fishery. |

You gotta give a guy some notice about these things so we can arrange a meet. I'll be out there again today but back in about 2:30 like yesterday. Wouldn't mind having a cold one with you guys. Good luck today as there actually calling for 2 footers and only God knows what that means. |

Tried giving you a shout on the marine radio. We finished up with our limit at 1:00. We searched around for bigger in the early am and then went back to black bottom where we nailed them yesterday. It was not as fast and furious but still nonstop action. I'm hooked on two things after this trip............. Eyelimanator rigs and your beautiful Bay. It's an awesome fishery that I will visit again, hopefully we'll meet up then. Our plans now are early to bed and up early to hit the road back to Wisconsin.
Ps........... the antifreeze color ate them up more than any other. http://franksgreatoutdoors.com/item.asp?id=243552 Make sure to pick up some from Frank's. Oh yea, Franks is a great store with great product. One of the better assortments of beads, blades etc. that I have seen. They have a large assortment of Tommy Harris blades. The only thing they need are bigger blades like 7's and 8's. |

Get back over here in late November or early December before Huron and I'll take you on the rivers for some night trolling or 1/4 casting jigs. Glad you enjoyed your stay. And you must mean the "Black Hole" when you say Black bottom. |

Is November or early December good for the hogs on that river? I usually reserve those months in pursuit of the really big girls.
