Location: Rhinelander | The bite was reported to be very tough today because of scattered fish, a cool front, and excessive amounts of baitfish. Many one and two fish baskets came to the stage, but Evinrude/Ranger Pro Chris Gilman put it together for a 20 pound 3 ounce basket and a very slim 3 ounce lead over Paul DeVoss. Chris also holds a tenuous lead on the coveted Angler of the Year title, so this one is HUGE for him. Watch for a WalleyeFIRST Video interview with Chris later tonight.
Weather reports for tonight and tomorrow are out the window poor, with 10 to 20 MPH west winds, showers and thunderstorms, and temps in the 60's. It's going to be a rough day out there with the storms.
Coverage of Day Two begins at 8 AM Eastern tomorrow.

| Looks like a lot of fun and glad to see some friends do good. The two that are most exciting to me are the "unknowns". Co-Angler Justin Stienke is a great friend and old co-worker who took the lead for Co-Angler of the year. While there is some luck of the draw, he's the kind of guy every pro wants in the boat. Another congrats for a great finish by my co-worker Adam Rasmuesson. 23 years old fishing his first pro event and in the top ten. He's a good stick who won a league event last year. I think he's truely an up and coming walleye pro. | |

Location: Elgin, Illinois | Hey,
I am for one, glad to see an "old fart"... Sunshine holding up that big fish... (oh I hope he sees this....LOL)...
Lots of great sticks had a tough day... And, with tomorrow's weather prediction... It will be another hard day...
Best of luck to all of the anglers... | |
