Location: Elgin, Illinois | Okay, here is the "deal"... Our Walleye Club, Northern Illinois Walleye Club, is about to put up there new website... One of the "features" is a listing of bait shops in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana (it may expand later). We will have them listed by State and City in a searchable database available on line... It should be going up later this week...
I need your help... Send me information on your favorite bait shops with the following information, as much as possible, City and State, Name, Address, Phone number, and e-mail and website if known. We will call each bait shop and explain what we are doing... and get permission. It is free to get listed and free to use. When it is up I will let everyone know. E-mail the info to [email protected]. Thanks. |

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | The Biggest/Best Stocked bait shop I know of here on Saginaw Bay, with the best bait and helpful staff is http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com And of course they have the best/most timely and accurate fishing reports for our area, and I'll personally vouch for that.

| Gotta give my vote to Bay View Bait and Tackle, here on LBDN - but I might be just a TAD bias on that one. http://www.baydenoc.com/bayviewsports I'll send you the rest of the particulars. Sounds like a great idea.

The Sportsman-Appleton will be moving to a new location at the end of August. It will be at:
2604 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Appleton, WI 54914
Just down the road closer to the mall.
Moving sale is happening right now, until the move is complete. 10% off of everthing that is not already on sale, or clearance merchandise.
We have perhaps, the largest selection of Reef Runners in the state of WI.

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | Reef runners, rapalas, salmo's OH MY.....
I've got to vote Tews. Best selection of cranks and blades I've seen under one roof so far. Flies, jigs, great live bait, and lots of the new stuff we here about on this site (TH blades, Dave's lures, that spoon/blade combination... eyeliminator???, and I think he has some of the "Drop-n-Stay's" too.).

Location: Appleton, WI | Done.
After a 14 1/2 hour day, all of the inventory has been moved. I'm sore as heck. The dump, as you had come to embrace at the old location is but a memory. Please excuse the mess, which aint bad.
The transition has been a long journey with alot of folks breaking their backs. Thanx Pete (the owner), Kevin, Dawn, Michelle, Jenny, Randy, Steve, and Jim for helping out today (as well as our wives/ significant others. Lori, Thanx for believing in my believing in Pete's vision) Your backs were invaluable! (were was Jeff?)
The new location (2604 W. Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, WI, HWY 96 exit, if you are coming up HWY 41), Will officially open for business at 9:00am Friday, 8/24/2007.
God, am I sore and tired. Whiskey (Wiesers) at Close of business tomorrow(9:00pm)!
It is confirmed, we have the largest selection of Reef Runners in the world! We carry EVERY color!

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Franks, NOT Franks great out doors, but simply FRANKS. Linwood Michigan. It was the dad that started the business Frank Gorski. It was nothing but a garage with a tank of minnows sold for perch fishing on saginaw bay. Same location as now. That was before walleyes got big on the bay. Heck, they were not even there. That was when there was marinas everywhere and they all rented boats for perch fishing. The coolest part of stopping to franks was he sold minnows by the dollar. I remember my Dad asking Frank how many minnows were in a buck and his reply was "Ohh about a half a hundred" . He also never had a problem tellin' ya where the perch were at and if you went here, well......YOU CAUGHT THEM!! I miss the simpler days. |

| My number #1 has to be Scheels of course. Not only are they a good sponsor of mine, they are a great company to work with, and the guys in the fishing shops are really knowledgable. Good selection of tackle with gear targeted to the store's local market make it easy to shop at Scheels.
A few other gems I've stumbled across over the years- I pretty much stop at every tackle shop I see along the road- I'm like a little old lady who can't pass by a garage sale...LOL
1) Bayshore Resort and Tackle in Gladstone, MI
2) Frank's in Linwood, MI
3) Marine General in Duluth, MN
4) Bill's Hooks in Dunkirk, NY

Ya know, that was always cool when you stopped at linwood corners, asked for the fishermans special and a plate of food was in front of you in 2 mins or less, and it was a huge plate for 4 bucks or something like that. 10 mins, 4 guys, out the door. Great memories. The wild turkey on the way home. |
