A total of 124 boats headed out this morning from Grahams Island State Park onto Devils Lake to kick off day one of the 2018 Cabela's National Walleye Tour. Weather for the next two days looks to be fairly steady with slight cloud cover and sunny skies. Wind will be a factor as usual for Devils Lake. Most of the anglers are catching lots of walleyes but still having trouble finding fish over 20''.

Inconsistency seemed to be the story for day 1 of the Cabela's NWT on Devils Lake, ND, with anglers who were on numbers of fish struggling to catch a limit, while others found pods of big fish and were able to capitalize. The wind bounced boats around on and off throughout the day, but wasn't unbearable. Techniques varied like as much as the lake's structure, with fish caught in depths from 10 to 50 feet of water. As expected, anglers were tight-lipped in their day 1 stage interviews. Stay tuned to walleyefirst.com for coverage of the final day.
