Subject: 6 HP Kicker For 1750 Tyee

Hey Everyone,

We got a 94' 1750 Tyee. We are trying to get a 9.9 or 8 HP kicker on the back. It is not going to fit on the older Tyee transom.

A 6 likely will fit. Question is, will it produce enough power to be able to comfortably troll up to say 4-5 mph if wanted for muskies? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you are trolling that fast just use the big motor.

I doubt it will get that fast. Maybe at WOT, but probably not.

My buddy has a 6 hp Johnson on his 17' ProV and it will not troll fast enough for salmon (3 - 3.5 mph). It works good for trolling 2 and under.

I have a 6 hp Nissan 4 stroke on a Starcraft 196. It will troll 2-3 mph against the current on the Mississippi, but will only push the boat at about 5 mph full throttle. This is a little bigger boat, but I would think 5 mph would still be pushing it.
