Subject: Suburban

I would imagine this subject has been pounded before, but I have a chance at buying a 2003 suburban. 89,000 miles on it, but I can get it for under nine grand. My questions: are the tranies good? Towing? mileage? I have a new 2008 Silverado, but I like keeping miles off that. I was wondering if it would be worth buying the suburban just for towing and a beat around vehicle?

Thanks for all input...

I don't know. I'm a Ford guy.

Sunshine drives the Suburbans on this site! His last one had like 8.3 zillion miles on it.

Buy it as long as you can afford the gas. I really do not think suburbans ever die and they are the best for hauling that I have found.

They last forever (yes, shep, ga zillion miles on last one)

Poor gas mileage 12-15

They had a tranny issue in the 90's. I have not heard of other problems since then.

Great tow vehicle. Never know you are hauling a big boat.

Lat time I checked a vehicle like that was worth about 10 grand.

How is the gas mileage without towing, is it around 17?
