Location: Rhinelander | The Merc National field left under cloudy skies, sprinkles and light winds. The forecast is for clouds and occasional showers through the day. Predictions are for a good bite after a storm moved through a couple days ago dumping 3" of rain. High winds kept much of the field off the lake for prefish, but the bite has been good enough where some are predicting it will take over 35 pounds to make the top 5. Trolling spinners and cranks was the top discussed tactic. WalleyeFIRST Coverage of the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament is brought to you by Mercury Outboards and Lund Boats! Location: Rhinelander | It was wet on Bago much of the afternoon, but the winds were negligible which seemed to slow the overall action from the pre-fish period. The bite today was reported to be early, late, and all day, so no pattern really emerged. Overall the weights were fair to good, taking 15.68 to hit top 20. Most of the top 20 said onstage they went North, and most were trolling. There were a couple baskets in the top 20 that were jigged up. The top three temas weighed in early, escaping the crowds, and of course the WalleyeFIRST cameras. Cary Literski and Mark Ramge lead with 22.40 in a virtual dead heat with Dave and Eugene Van Oss with 22.32. In third and still close enough to be considered a dead heat are Greg Strehlow and Casey Schneider with 21.18. Beer and Beer are in fourth with 19.22, and Arneson and Pickhard round out the top 5.
