New User Posts: 4 | HUGHES AND JACOBSON WIN AGAIN AND TAKE TEAM OF THE YEAR The final Bago Walleye Club Invitational went out with a bang on Sunday, as storms rolled through the area in the afternoon. Yet by most accounts, the storms fired up they fish, who went on a feeding frenzy just before and after the rain and wind came over the lake. One team who attributes their catch to the weather is Jim Hughes and Matt Jacobson who took home first place honors with 19.06lbs. They started their day by Winneconne on the Wolf River, but left because the area was crowded. They then went to Poygan, where they caught one nice fish before ending up at the mouth of the river by Oshkosh, an area that has been good to them in the past. They were just about to leave when Jacobson hooked into one. As the rain increased and the current picked up in the river, the bite kept getting better. Using both cranks and jigs, they were able to pull out a winning basket worth $2500. Second place went to Justin Krueger and Aaron Bilitz with 18.22lbs. They caught their fish upriver by pitching shallow rocks and slowly jigging back to the boat. They took home a check for $1400 for their day on the water. Third place went to Jon Noble and Karen Hendrix with 18.00lbs of fish. It took all day for the duo to pick them up. They started out trolling crawlers with blue blades at 1.1mph which put a fish in the bag. They then made a few runs before returning right back where they started and filled out their limit. They cashed a check for $850. Hughes and Jacobsen also captured the team of the year title with a total of 238 points, weighing 64.69lbs this season. They took home $4000 in Triton Cash. They were followed by Jon Noble and Karen Hendrix who had 220 points and 60.86lbs. They took home a PowerPole valued at $1600. In third place with 213 points and 51.04lbs of fish were Jeremy Case and Jason Olson. They won a Humminbird and $100 cash. Member Posts: 874 Location: Neenah, WI | This is a nice series to fish. We had fun in the 2 that we fished and will be back next year, We won a couple of gift certificates for Woodeyes worth 50 bucks. We just missed the money in our first one. Weights were very close. I don't know how they worked it into the budget but having the Air Force Thunderbirds perform was awesome, LOL. See you next year. Dale and Ginny Frank | ||
