I'm looking at a 2007 Silverado with a 4.8L engine. How is this engine for towing power. I see it is rated for the same HP as my 2001 5.3L. The 5.3L pulls my 1800 Pro-V great. Anyone towing a similar or larger boat with this engine?

The 4.8 engine will pull your boat fine but the gas millage won't be too great. I had a 2001 silverado with a 4.8 and pulled my boat fine but like to suck the gas back. Now I have a 2007 silverado with a 5.3 and pulls my rig awesome and the gas millage is great. If you pull your boat alot i would go with the 5.3 engine. Its alot better on gas and more power when passing cars on the highways. Other than that I love my 2007 silverado.

Yes, it'll get the job done. but if were talking power and passing cars, step up to the Dmax if you can. Or hold off if you can, if you don't mind playing guinea pig. Chevy is introducing a 4.x (I forget exact size) diesel in the 1500 series trucks in '08. Fuel mileage and power will be better than the 4.8 gasser.

Good luck
