Anyone here run a jackplate on their 1760? I am wondering if I would get more performance out of my rig with one or is it not worth the cash??? Any expertise on the subject is greatly appreciated!

What performance are you looking to improve? Holeshot, WOT, midrange? Rough water fuel consumption? Oops, wrong thread!

A 6" set back with a 150 will get you improved performance, but not a ton. A bit better top end and the ability to run a prop that otherwise won't turn is the positive.

A few more MPH and less cavitation plate spray would be cool. Can I achieve that just by moving the motor up a couple of more holes??? My holeshot is super good as is. I'm running a 19P SS prop set down in the bottom hole right now getting 47-48 mph. I am thinking the boat is dragging along a bit. I am very happy with the ride and the boat overall, just curious if I can increase the overall performance a bit with a jackplate and is it worth the money to do so? Thanks

And what RPM's WOT and trimmed for best speed?

Have you had somone look to see if the cav plate is in the water when running? If so, yes, you could help by raising the motor. How much to go, I can't say. You may want to move it a couple times and see. But be careful of the water psi if you go to high.

The motor is mounted all the way down. So the top hole I guess. How high is too high? Sorry for all the seemingly stupid questions, but don't know much about these things-only what I have read on these and other boards regarding getting the best performance. I am running (according to the RPM gauge) about 5200 RPM at WOT and getting about 47 mph.

5200 is too low for WOT. The range is 5250-5750 on the 150 Opti. Raising the motor will bring the RPM's up about 200( I think) for each hole you raise it. This is not a hard and fast number, but a guide. I would raise it up two holes, and see how it performs then. That should help you hit 50+, reduce some of the spray, and your holeshot will not suffer a bit.

If you go more than two holes, make sure you have a water pressure guage or a Smartcraft Monitor or Tach. You don't want to be low on pressure if you raise it too high.

Thanks Shep, I appreciate your willingness to respond. It sounds like a jackplate would allow me the most leeway in move the motor up or down and give me the set back options I need. Good info...

I must be a conservative. Man, I just would tell anyone to raise a motor with out seeing where it was at now. Don't spend money on a jack plate till you know the boat is set up correctly.

Its time to visit a dealer near you. It doesn't even need to be a Tuffy Dealer, just a dealer that deals with bass boats and fast boats in general. They will be able to help with correct set up. Get the professional opinion before you do something you regret.
