I have a new boat (Lund 1700 Pro Sport) and am looking for recommendations on a decent GPS/Sonar combo. I would like to stay under $750. Most of my walleye fishing is done on big water between Winnebago and Little Bay De Noc.

GPS receiver Integral or get a puck? I already have a chip in my handheld Lowrance h20.

I've always liked my lowrance units. I can say that out of five years plus of running lowrance units, I have only sent one back to get fixed. For sonar/GPS, your only option under $750 would be the LMS-520. I recommend getting the puck. I have heard of issues with the internal GPS ones. Sounds like a hit or miss with them. If the 520 does not have a big enough screen for you, you might want to think about getting two units with a 5" screen. One sonar and one with just GPS. this would give you more picture and depending on what units you choose, it could keep you under the $750 you want to spend. The X-27c and X-25c are great units, but will be over what you might want to spend. You might get lucky and find a good deal on an X-25c on ebay or in the classifieds since the discontinued the unit over a year ago. Also, if you like the lakemaster chips like I do, Humminbird does not take them that I am aware of. Nothing against Humminbird, just something to consider. I think Humminbird has come a long way in the last couple years.

Esky,

I would go with seperate color Lowrance GSP and sonar units.

Lowrance X510c Series Sonar $412 new on ebay
Lowrance GlobalMap 5200c with External GPS $465 new on ebay

The 2- 5 inch color screens give you excellent visibility and it lets you use the full capibilities of both units as they are designed for.

I've had to send my globalmap back 2 times, but Lowrance replaced it both time free of charge.
