Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | "January 12th., Little Bay de Noc weekend outlook, "
Weather should be in the 30's along with light winds and some sunshine. Ice conditions are holding well and the several inches of snow we recieved yesterday early morning making the ice easier for travel. Upper Bay seeing at 12 to 15 inches of good solid ice now and Gladstone Narrows south at least 8 inches.
Fishing reports have been spotty with jigging (using Raps #5 & #7's, also the glow colors are good choices, spoons and leadhead jigs) being good as well tip-up sets using large shiners/sucker minnows in the 4 to 6 inch range.
Still being a morning/just before dark window of much of the activity but during the day drilling a series of holes and moving about can find fish.
Water depths and shallow from 5 feet too 30 feet concentrating on the many mud flats of the Bay. A good Hot - Spots map can help pin-point many fishing areas.
Perch action, wigglers and small minnows. Also small Raps #2's.
Northern Pike spearers having fun watching lots of panfish, some walleye working through their weedbed set huts several fish being taken. Really a unique way of fishing and always seeing different fish throughout the hunt.
All in all some starts and ideas too getting into your ice fishing weekend.
As always we are renting our "Ice Shanties and doing our Guided Ice Trips."
See you on the Ice,Marty
