New User Posts: 3 | My front livewell cable broke right at the lever handle. This lever is a simple push pull cable system. I took off the lever plate and saw the live well adjustment cable had a simple 90 degree angle on the end. The lever control rod has a hole bored right thru it, and this is were the 90 degree cable fits into. Apparently this 90 degree bend just broke from wear and fatique. It broke very close to the bend. My question is: is there any way I can attach a filler peice of metal to this end to add the 1/2" or so I need to reinsert into the lever control rod hole again. I know I need to keep the original length, so the lever will position into the fill, empty, or recirculate postions. I am trying to avoid replacing the existing cable and all that goes with getting to the other end of the cable i.e. removing boat floor panels and console. I feel the cable will still work properly with this small added cable length. Anyone have any solutions or have experienced this same livewell cable breakage? Thanks in advance. I will repost if I can get this to work.

Otherwise, if you shorten the sheath, you could have enough cable to rebend it? I've done this with throttle controls, and it seemed to work ok.

Simply replace the inner section of the cable with a stainless steel wire of similar diameter. The other end of the cable is attached to a valve on the pump for that livewell. It's not that hard to get at.

It'a pretty easy fix. Buy the new cable. Use the old cable as a fish tape. Pull the new cable through with the old and make the connections. 10 - 15 minute job done correctly!!!

New User Posts: 3 | Limitout, Sorry for being a rookie at this. I really want to repair this myself. Where would I get the correct inner steel cable. Is there an outlet for this: Westmarine, Cabelas, ? And secondly how would I access the livewell pump, what sections are needed to be removed to do this. While I am at it I plan on replacing the burned out bulb of the livewell too, since it looks like it is right there too. thanks for your advice and all who are contributing, I appreciate it alot. You will pull the panel off were your controls are and disconnect from control. You will remove the panel on the floor board in front of your rear livewell. Disconnect the other end at the pump. Take the new cable and attach it with tape to the old cable and pull it through like a fish tape. Make the connections at each end and you are done. The cables are available at any Lund Dealer. I believe I paid about 30-35 bucks each.

New User Posts: 3 | Thanks Limitout. Sounds pretty straight forward. I will call my closest lund dealer and order the cable. Thanks. Everything goes better with some good directions. I am looking forward on fixing this and will post how it went if anyone can benefit from this. Walleyespanker
