Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | After ankle fusion surgery and my 4th Rotator Cuff operation on March 7th (two on each shoulder now) my Doctor suggested being I've paid off his mansion now, that I invest in a 12 volt Anchor Winch to drop and hoist my 35 pound Pryamid river anchor on my Jet Boat. I've always wanted one anyways so I ordered a 12Volt winch with 45 pound lift capacity. Now, Can I attach this winches wires to just one of my 12 volt batteries, even though I have 2 of them wired in tandom for my 24 volt trolling motor? Ideally, I'd like to attach aligator clips to this winchs wires and only clip it to one of either battery when I'm going to use it.

| Yep I would go to your starting battery.
That way it will stay charged. I would not think you would use the ancor enough to cause any starting issue's.
With all the pictures of hog walleye's you post I see the need to have the rotator cuffs fixed up.  tell the dock your going to switch to perch fishing.

Location: Midland, MI 48642 | I am thinking because of the draw you might see a little sparking on the terminal post due to not being a real tight connection. If you notice little burn marks on the post you might hook up to the battery with a solid connection and put a seperate on of switch. Just my thoughts. I hate loose connections. Skeeter |

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | I agree Nels. I'd use a quick disconnect somewhere and have one end wired permanently to a battery. You could get creative and use the extra connections on your bowmount plug and run 12V to them, then put a matching plug on the winch. |

Sure, but I'd recommend installing a plug in for it.

You'll have a better, more reliable contact and it looks more "pro", too.

| Dan, I have night lighting that I hook up 12 volt on my 36 volt setup. I just put one of these quick disconnects on each battery wired 12 volt and then a matching disconnect on the lighting system. That way I can switch the lighting system from battery to battery with no problem. It works excellent and you never have to worry about whether something is connected correctly in the dark because the connections only fit one way. If you order a set from Cabelas, you get 2. THe connectors are the same so you don't need a female and male connection You can get the disconects through Cabelas or directly from Anderson Power products for about 1/3 the cost.

In the reviews some guys were complaing about the soldering part connecting the wire to the clips. What was your experience? |

| Dan, The ends are shipped seperate and are easy to soder. I just put them in a vice, heated them up with a torch and filled them with soder. Then I shoved the wire ends into the liquid soder for 5 seconds or less till it got hard... piece of cake and a very solid connection that will never come loose. I can see someone complain if they only own a soder gun.... that won't work. I know how much you like to tinker, I'm a bit like that my self, but I make sure my stuff is rock solid and this system is just that. Just make sure you have the ends lined up before you soder so they click into place correctly. Dominic |
