Member Posts: 25 | I have a 2006-1760 Osprey with and love the boat. One issue it has is that the MPH and Trim gauges have never functioned. The RPMs and voltage meter seem to work fine as well as the gas gauge. These are not Merc Gauges, but the ones that came from Tuffy. I got it checked out at a Merc dealer and they said that the guage panel is entirely analog, but the motor is all digital. I find it strange that the guages installed were never made to be compatable with the motor?? OR is this more of an issue with whoever rigged this boat??? I don't know who did the rigging. I assumed all gauges worked on this when I bought it. The cost to upgrade to Smartcraft is considerable and the cost to switch over to make the current gauges work is also an expense as well. Anyone here have advice on how to deal with this one??? I would like to get all gauges working if possible. Still waiting on that phone call back from the dealer........ BTW-This rig has a 06' 150 Opti on it. Edited by Cast-n-blast 4/23/2008 8:57 AM

Location: Rhinelander | The speedo isn't an issue, that should work off of water pressure. It's possible it was never hooked up. The trim gauge is analog, so I'd assume you are running an Opti Max?

Member Posts: 56 | my trim gauge did not work on my '06 2060 either, dealer I bought it from had the wrong part on the motor, took it to another dealer and they took care of it, cost me about $75 or so. Motor is an optimax

Member Posts: 25 | oh, but it is an issue... I was told that there is an conversion kit that needs to be installed to the tune of 373.00 Why should not all things work when you buy a new boat???

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Cast and blast, the person who told you that a 300 and some odd dollar upgrade was needed to make the speedo work is mistaken, UNLESS you have opti guages. then they work off a sensor and not a water pressure guage. Most the time it is not Tuffy that is a problem, It is the dealer you choose to do business with when it come to a rigging problem.

Member Posts: 25 | Let me make a few things clear... I in no way blame Tuffy for any issues with this panel. I thought maybe someone here would be able to provide some insight into how to deal with this if they had a similar experience. The dealer has been contacted and I am still waiting to hear back from them. The part I was referring to is a smartcraft part and is digital and the price includes installation. I have also done some checking with the gauge manufacturer and have found parts that will work to convert from digital to analog. This is an unanticipated expense and the assumption is that when you buy something new, you expect everything to work. I would like to find out who rigged this boat as I know it was not the dealer I did business with. They received the boat rigged just as I got it when purchased as it was a show model rig and was water ready. If anyone heard a complaint in my post it was only directed at the dealer who has been dodging me on this. Part of my problem here is that the dealer is 3.5 hours away from where I live. Bringing the boat to them would not justify the cost of gas to haul it there and back. None of what I have said here is meant to place anyone on the defensive.
