| What boards run the farthest to the side with the least amount of line out?
What boards are the easiest to use?
Which boards can carry the most weight?
I've been running mostly walleye cranks on some old orange Willies for a long time and am looking to upgrade. I tried Offshore with some musky lures and that was a little heavy for them at the higher speeds. Both are serviceable, but I was wondering if there is anything better out there. |

Question #2 and 3. Offshore. There is nothing better than Offshore. Everything else is a copy. |

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | For easy of use and cost, I use the Church Tackle boards. The release they sell with the board works - no need to spend another $10 per board for snap releases. They perform about the same as the Offshore board, are easier to operate, and cost less. The only thing you may want to consider is to replace the foam in the back of the board. That takes about 10 minutes (if your mostly thumbs like I am) but costs next to nothing to do.
If your looking for an in-line board that is going to pull musky sized baits better than an offshore or church tackle board, your probably going to have to make that yourself.

| So, why would you replace the foam? Not enough? Poor glue job? Falls apart?
I looked at the Church boards on their web site and they look pretty user friendly. I liked the tattle flag idea on the Off Shore boards but not the price so I certainly can live without that. |

| I've run Church Mr Wallye boards, and currently have two sets of Off Shore. One set with, and one set without tattle tail flags. You can make your own tattle tail flags. Do a little research, and yu'll find the directions. It will save some money. To me, time is money, so I bought mine. Either way, you'll like either brand. I didn't like the way the Church boards worked while pulling musky baits, so that is when I sold them, and bought another Set of Off Shores.
The Church boards worked well when fishing walleyes. I really had no complaints. |

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | The foam in the last set of Church boards I bought (4 years ago???) would absorb some water after a long day of use and cause them to run poorly. I had some of the blue colored insulation board/foam in the garage so I replaced the original foam with the blue stuff and that corrected the problem. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Another advantage to running the Offshore Boards: you have someone like me who goes around the state and does upgrades to OFfshore boards when necessary. If something on your Offshore board is in need of replacement, just contact me at [email protected] and I'll either take care of it or lead you to the place where it can be taken care of. |

| Thanks for all the info! I saw some Off Shore boards priced right at Fleet Farm the other night and they just kind of followed me to the check out. So I guess I'll give them a workout this season and see what happens. Thanks again guys for the help! |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I made my own flags for most of my Off Shore boards. Once you do one, they'll only take about 3 minutes a piece to make. The hardest part is usually finding the spring. I've heard a lot of good things about using rubber bands instead. We'll have to try that out this year. |

| OK guys you have me interested. How do you make your own tattle flags? I am one of many who are sick of spending way tooooo much $ on tackle. I got the used '05 620 by the wife last year but, I'd rather not press my luck on another $120 for tattle flags. Still need $ left over for gas.

| I just did a google search for Home Made Tattle Flag and there it was. You can also search simply Tattle Flag. I'm off to the hardware store right now.

| Just got done making my own tattle flags for 6 boards. It cost me a total of $15 to do all 6. Not trying to shoot holes in offshore's boat but, I think they will work fine. I do recomend the offshore brand for pulling walleye baits. |

| I built mine too a couple of days ago but could not find the exact springs mentioned. I used what I thought would be similar but now I think they may be a bit on the soft side and might falsely indicate a fish. Where did you find those springs? Other than that it was a piece of cake and a heck of a lot cheaper.

| I found mine at a do-it home center. I had to go to 2 places but they both had a huge sellection of century springs. I believe home depot or lowes have them also. I'm thinking about going to a softer spring than the C73 after a trip to saginaw bay. Need a little softer spring for the fish we caught today. However I am going back up to my old stomping grounds in the U.P. where a 1/2 ton pickup spring should be about right. Can't wait! |

| I run a double spring for little bay de noc, I have small holes drill in the front of the board instead of the grooves to hold them in place. Need it stiffer just move the springs down, softer move them up or take one off. Don't care about lite bitters don't get many. |
