I just purchased a 03 620t with a merc 125 with mertens on it. If anyone has experience with these motors please chime in. Any info would be great. What type of oil should a guy run it. I have had some people tell me to go away from the merc that is now ran in it and switch to amsoil or a sythetic injex because the merc oil smoke too bad and also fouls plugs when trolling any help thanks.

I run that engine for eight years and have had no problems running the merc oil, I do slow idle alot and do most of my trolling with the kicker and electrics and have no problems with fouling spark plugs. I have also run seafoam with most of the gas to help with upper engine lubricaton and cleaner overall running.

I have a Mariner 115 in the 2+2, almost the same engine (I Guess).
I don't troll with it, I think it would do fine It's just the boat came with a kicker so I use it alot.
I run Merc oil and it works fine, I add the merc clean to the gas and sea foam to every tank full. I fish late in the Fall and start up again in the early spirng so I haven't had the Merc dealer winterize it for me the last few winters, heck it only sits from Early Dec till March.

With my motor if you have the tilt full down it runs rough, just tilt her up a bit and it runs fine. This has something to do with the gravity feed to the carbs.

You'll find an RPM range where the motor runs rough as shes switching the 2+2 thingy, a slight adjustment above or below that range will solve the problem

Enjoy
