Location: Manitowoc, WI | I can't see whether willow cats are used or not as being a deterrent to people fishing this event. The biggest question is, to me, the legality of using them, including where they are purchased or caught. If the WI DNR chooses to make this an issue it could get ugly. |

| If someon is not fishing this tournament because of the willow cat thing you must not be much of a pro angler. A real pro will find a way or make a way, but they won't quit because they can't get a minnow. Sounds more like an excuse by someone who really doesn't want to fish the tournament. |

| I don't think the Mississippi is a favorite place to fish for the bulk of the field in the first place. Add to that the possibility of not having cats (while others do), or having to pay exorbitant prices for them, and the decision not to fish gets easier. "Finding ways" and "making ways" costs money, and for some, the reward is not great enough. If your definition of a "pro" fisherman is someone who will fish at any expense and not look at the risk/reward ratio, then I guess there's no more discussion to be had.

Location: Chicago IL. | Jerry, I dont think its a issue with the WI. dnr. It is not against any law to fish on the river with them. So if you bought them in MN., you can fish both sides of the creek with them. You just cant bring them into WI. I cant understand who would not show up because of it not getting willys. If I were fishing it and they dont get some rain soon, I would not waste my money on them. A couple of years ago for the mwc in lake city,my buds and I split up 85doz and we didnt get anything going execpt on cranks. |

I agree with you on the competitive thing. Whether I have willow cats or not will not determine if I fish this event. I have multiple hunting trips with my son planned for this fall, plus a refueling outage to work for 30-40 days, so I'm trying to juggle my schedule to see if this event will fit. As it stands now, things are up in the air. I may find myself going out there without any prefish time. |

Location: Spring Valley,Il. | Thanks for the replies and votes guys.I my self think allowing willow cats in the championship will cause problems.Other tournaments have quit allowing them,and I think they save them selves alot of headaches by not allowing them. |
