Having a problem with my 111. I hit the power button and get the initial 111 start up screen. It blinks or hiccups and I get the start up screen again. It won't allow me to power it down, powers down on it's own. Tried both a soft & hard reset, unit responds the same and displays the same screens. Anything more I can do, or does this need to go back to the company for service. Hooked my 27 up to the same connectors and it appears to be working fine. Thanks for any input or ideas.

Well I was going to say it sounds like your transducer seeing this was a similar issue on MuskieFirst but seeing your 27 worked fine on the same connections it doesn't sound like the transducer. I'd say the unit is the problem then but not sure.

Try getting a hold of Lowrance, but you better be patient seeing it's there busy season. Check this link out. There is a lot of different links on the left side of the page. Look through those also.

But the link below provides direct contact information.

Any way to confirm the current software version? One of my units was acting funny. Found out I had old software. Downloaded and put on a chip. Upload to unit and is working fine. That may be the first step. After downloading be sure to select the chip and install there. If you install on your harddrive then copy to chip, it wont upload on the unit.

I wish I could check. Once I hit the power button I can't do anything or navigate anywhere. It just shows the very first start screen, you know, the one with all the pretty colors that reminds me it is an LCX 111-C HD. Doesn't even try to go to the navigation and warning screens. As mentioned earlier, it won't even allow me to power it down, it does so on its own. I have an extra transducer so will try that just to be sure.

Maybe this sounds really dumb, but make sure your power button/switch isn't stuck down.

As mentioned, it might be the power button. I had this happen to my Lowrance a couple years back. I pushed down firmly on the power button and moved it in circles. Worked fine after that...must have been some junk behind it. If that doesn't work, you should upload the latest software from the Lowrance website. If you call, that will be the first thing they tell you to do.

I agree. Look at the power button itself. It may be stuck, and you might be able to unstick it by palying with it. Other than that, I would get versuion 1.6 on a chip, put it in, and start the unit. See if it installs the firmware, and if so, it might just work. Good luck with it. Hope you have it fixed by Oconto.

I have seen this as well. The dirt from crawler crap on fingers starts a film building on the keys. then it transcends from the key to the crack at the base of the key. Then you push the pad in hard and the crap gets caught in the crack, and well you know, its stuck. Just make sure your crack is clean.

I have to agree with denny its the power button and it has nothing to do with software. Unfortunatly the best bet for you is to get a swap out with lowarance and get a rebuild unit and i'm pretty sure you have a new 1 year warranty.it may be possible to clean the switch yourself .

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Believe it or not, after initially thinking it may be a voltage issue and hooking it up to a different battery, stuck key was my next thought. I messed with the keys and even tried to get behind them the best I could with my fingernails and pry them out. I actually did this twice, still no luck. Talked with Lowrance this morning and came to the conclusion the unit needed to sent back. Was all ready to pack it up and Fed Ex to Oklahoma (hopefully bck in time for Oconto). After reading some of your responses and others thinking it might be a stuck key, I figured I would mess with the buttons and give it one more try. It worked! Didn't change or alter anything else, so I assume it had something to do with a stuck key. Hopefully this fixes the situation. Wasn't looking forward to spending $300 + shipping on a 1 1/2 year old unit, but I gotta have my 111. To be sure this doesn't happen again I guess I'll have stop pulling crawler harnesses and take Denny's advice to keep my crack clean.
